Description

Captured by an evil sorcerer, I’m forced to become his apprentice and learn forbidden magic. Teetering on the edge between good and evil, I trade my soul for power. Allemar wants to control me, but little does he know the shifter he’s caged-- is not easily tamed.

My training draws me closer to Aspen, the forsaken prince, wanted for treason against the crown. My sisters have always feared him, but I can see the man beneath the cloak of hate.

For I am Maeve, one of the adoptive daughters of Lady Eville. I hunt the truth, seeking the one who murders my shifter friends. But what will I do when all evidence points to Aspen and the dark magic he wields?

Unleash the beast within.

This book is soo much better than all the other ones when it comes to the quality of writing. The author definitely took more time writing backstories for the characters in the book but i was still not satisfied with the amount of character development. I understand that the books aren’t meant to be super long but it would’ve been so much better if the author gave maeve and aspen more thought out dialogues internal and external. Additionally, she kind of just glazed over the fact that aspen had done very terrible things to her family and he just blamed it on himself but really did nothing to say he was apologetic. but the most annoying part was that maeve seemed to get along with very fast and forget all about the turmoil he had caused which made the writing seem lazy. but, There was definitely more sophisticated imagery which was a big plus compared to the other books in the series. l will continue to read the next two and hope they continue to get better.

It took a really long time to get me into the story and to be honest I really thought of putting it down, but I stuck with it and I think this might be my favorite of the series, you have outdone yourself again with your amazing love interests in the book. I look forward to reading the next one!
  • Enemies to lovers, but the bad guy didn’t choose evil freely and chose good when he had the chance

Fun and exciting reveals, maintained a complicated interweave of storylines. I’m not a fan of the enemies to lovers trope, even with a sacrifice to “prove” love, but the author painted him as a tortured soul who grasped into the only support he had as a child and then found himself trapped in a cycle of evil and madness, only finally setting himself free from the cycle by seeing himself used as the tool to cause the same harm to another.

This book was predictable yet it kept surprising me . I felt all the emotions of Maeve like it was my own. 9/10 !! Absolutely reccommend to buy it!!! Note: Also I would love it if after all the daughter’s stories there was a story on Mother Eveille and the whole family facing their biggest threat yet !!🤩

This book was full of adventure. I was worried that Aspen, the shifters and Maeve’s niece, Violet had died, but I was so happy when Aura found Maeve in the cave and learned that they survived! I am glad it was a happy ending! I can’t wait to read the next book. Yes!
