The Instant New York Times Bestseller and TikTok Sensation!

As seen on THE VIEW!

A BuzzFeed Best Summer Read of 2021

When a fake relationship between scientists meets the irresistible force of attraction, it throws one woman's carefully calculated theories on love into chaos.

As a third-year Ph.D. candidate, Olive Smith doesn't believe in lasting romantic relationships—but her best friend does, and that's what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh that Olive is dating and well on her way to a happily ever after was always going to take more than hand-wavy Jedi mind tricks: Scientists require proof. So, like any self-respecting biologist, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees.

That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor—and well-known ass. Which is why Olive is positively floored when Stanford's reigning lab tyrant agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend. But when a big science conference goes haywire, putting Olive's career on the Bunsen burner, Adam surprises her again with his unyielding support and even more unyielding...six-pack abs.

Suddenly their little experiment feels dangerously close to combustion. And Olive discovers that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting her own heart under the microscope.

The Love Hypothesis is a wonderful, easy read and will easily become a romantic comedy you’ll adore and will give you a glimpse into the world of academia! I couldn’t put this book down, and can’t wait to read the next in the series.

This book is super cute and such a fun read. I love the banter and the grumpy/ sunshine trope going on. I will say I was disappointed with the ending. Would have liked to see more of what happened after their talk. Seemed rushed and ended so suddenly. I was left wanting more. Still a cute read though.

This book was sooo good! I finally got to read this book it’s been on my TBR since 2022! This book is about Olive who is a 26 year old who meets this random man in a bathroom, and two years later they see each other again when Olive Kisses Adam, and them faking dating just to prove to her best friend that she moved on. Olive and Adam get so drawn to each other, and them trying to find out their feelings towards each other. I love Olive and Adam they’re so sweet, funny, romantic, adorable, and heartwarming. I love how Olive and Adam support each other throughout the entire book. I’m so glad that Olive and Adam ended up together at the end of the book. I can’t wait to watch the movie when It comes out!!! Ali Hazelwood did an amazing job with this book by including science in this book with Olive and Adam, and also describing each of the characters so we can get to know them, also I can’t wait to read more books of hers!❤️ -Kierra Brice🩷

With the movie coming out I was a little more inclined to read even though I’d heard about it for years. I was concerned it was another TikTok BookTok read where it wasn’t actually good and was just spicy but having read it, it’s the perfect mix of sunshine and grump and we love a good fake dating. *Spoilers* To see he was silently pining after her for years and for half of it she didn’t even know The Guy was him was so good! Something told me in the beginning that Tom was going to be too good to be true but I honestly thought it was because he was going to steal her research, not harass her! We love a protective king!

This book is so cringy. I love romance books, I love love, but this is a bit overboard with cringe moments that are just plain uncomfortable to read. The intensely weird and uncomfortable situations between the characters that are trying to be masked as romantic are a bit too much. I’m having such a hard time continuing this book

  • I love how cute the stories are but

The author tends to repeat herself a lot in her books. “He’s larger than life.” “He executes parallel parking that would take me an embarrassing amount of time to do.” I understand she clearly has a type, men with big height differences to the the female leads and they know how to drive lol but there is different ways to say that or maybe it doesn’t even need to be said at all. I have read three of this authors books and while the stories are different they are all kind of the same.

Ali Hazelwood is an absolute genius. I love the way she uplifts her female characters. They’re witty, intelligent, emotional, and charismatic. Everything is just INCREDIBLE!! Went down a rabbit hole after this and proceeded to read every.single.one of her releases. No regrets!

Some books just shouldn’t end. That was fantastic. Sugar and spice and everything. Chefs kiss.
  • This book missed the mark

I was intrigued at first, but the plot is just truly not believable. It’s soooo many chapters of the main character having a major problem that could be solved with a 5 minute conversation, which I find exhausting.
  • It’s horrible im saying an advice if you want to listen this gas a lot kiss words

I loved this book! The love story was juicy, but very slow and deliberate. The ending was somewhat predictable but better than I had hoped! I read the entire book in a day. It had me captive.
  • so good!!

there are not enough STEM themed rom coms in the world and im grateful for this book bringing us a great one!! I feel like the author was a bit repetitive when describing how tall Adam’s character was but other than this minor detail, I loved it!
  • One of my favorites!

This book was so clever, funny, and precious from beginning to end. The people who are iffy about the age gap are obviously YOUNG because honey, Olive was mid twenties, it’s not weird or creepy. Grow up. Speaking of Olive, she was such a refreshing, relatable protagonist and I loved getting to know her. Ali Hazelwood is officially my favorite author!!
