Description

Sauron, the Dark Lord, has gathered to him all the Rings of Power—the means by which he intends to rule Middle-earth. All he lacks in his plans for dominion is the One Ring—the ring that rules them all—which has fallen into the hands of the hobbit, Bilbo Baggins. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose. J.R.R. Tolkien's great work of imaginative fiction has been labeled both a heroic romance and a classic fantasy fiction. By turns comic and homely, epic and diabolic, the narrative moves through countless changes of scene and character in an imaginary world which is totally convincing in its detail.

Apple.... Task task task. Please note this is under the epic category. And it should be for the epic spelling fails on apples part. Also Be aware this does not appear to be the original version with slight modifications. Whatever wouldn't waste my money on it.

Yeah, but in the first part it's about them joining together to bring the one ring to Mordor and destroy it. I own the book trilogy and it says The Fellowship of the Ring.

They said lord of the rings plural because there are a lot of rings. Just ONE of the rings are used in the story.

What the heck??!? Get the stinkin' title right! There is only one ring!! One ring to rule them all.... I am so glad that I own the paperback edition, never spending my $9.99 (plus tax) on a book that the editors didn't care to even get the title right! This book is truly one of the greatest works of fiction- not just of it's time, but ever.
  • Title?

The title isn't even right and these 300 page books are way overpriced. Apple, if you're going to even pretend to try and challenge the kindle you need to start with quality control (kindle also has errors but not nearly as many as iBooks) and pricing. This is outrageous.

This is filled with spelling errors, and I even heard an entire sentence was left out. It starts with the title, which should read 'The Fellowship of the Ring.' How could you get the title wrong? By not caring and trying to make a quick buck. I'll stick to the paper editions for now.

This is a pretty good book. A lot of the first half is slow, though, and there is a lot of archaic vocabulary. It would be very difficult and time consuming to read this on paper due to that. This simply has to be read electrically on an iPad, or it is just too hard to keep track of all the characters. The dictionary and search functions were essential. The second half of the book was more gripping, but it was just a slow read. It took several minutes to read a page when other books take less than a minute per page for me. Otherwise, it's a decent book. I haven't read them, but I think the second two books are better.

What's to say about this book? It's beyond a wonderful experience with so much going on that you wish that it was all really. A wonderful story if you know what's going on but if your not a fan of fantasy then i don't recommend it
