The Third Option
By Vince Flynn
- Release Date: 2001-11-09
- Genre: Mysteries & Thrillers
Description
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of American Assassin comes a pulse-pounding thriller that “is an old school spy story…updated with heavy helpings of international intrigue and domestic politicking and betrayal” (Library Journal) and puts CIA agent Mitch Rapp in the crosshairs of an enemy even he did not anticipate.
When diplomacy fails and military intervention is inappropriate, our leaders sometimes take a third option and Mitch Rapp has been assigned just such an “unofficial” task—targeting a German industrialist who is supplying a notorious terror sponsor.
But when the mission is dangerously compromised, Rapp realizes he’s been deemed an expendable asset in a power struggle on home turf: the battle over who will become the successor of the dying CIA director. But no one counted on Mitch Rapp’s return…or how far he’ll go to find out who set him up.
An explosive thriller that is ripped from the headlines, The Third Option proves that “in the world of black-ops thrillers, Mitch Rapp remains the gold standard” (Booklist, starred review of Red War).
Reviews
As per usual
5By 1248gazThe Rapp series is a never ending thrill ride. Well written, intricate plots, sub Rosa galore. I am already starting the fifth in the seriesRapp and Kennedy
5By Jessica MadisonThe storyline with Rapp and Kennedy was amazing in this book. They are so brother and sister. I liked seeing more of Kennedy and was sad to see her mentor and boss Stansfield go downhill. Overall, this book is my favorite so far even though I’ve got a line of books to go. You can really play a movie in your head with this one. I will say that you could figure things out quicker of who was the enemy and traitor. I’m trying to leave spoilers out but it is so hard because the book had so much more stuff happen in between. I can’t wait to see the future under Kennedy.Excellent thriller!
5By Baytown BabeFantastic! Can’t wait to read the next one!Great read!
5By Carro cannonGreat change of pace from the book before. Edge of your seat read! The Third Option
1By Kick kartVery disappointed in this book. The author, could have found a much more humane way to deal with the dog. Instead of choosing to leave him outside alone hungry and lose. The dog is the one that successfully made his entry into the house successful. I will no longer read any of the books in the seriesEveswWefwes
1By eteysI love e we can erred tchs ifzteddseexThird option
3By WillragsThis book had far to many characters, a muddled plot which I feel was 50 pages to long and one of the worse endings of any Vince Flynn book I have read. Believe it or not. I am a very avid Vince Flynn supporter.Good until the end.
1By SpenydogProbably the worst ending ever. Nothing was tied up, didn't even make sense. I was very disappointed, would be afraid to spend time and money on another one of his books.RIP
5By RJ the TravelerRest in piece Vince FlynnThird Option

5By HynoteGreat read!!Amazing
5By KhetrI accidentally came across Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp books. I hadn't read a book in about 10 years. I got Transfer of Power on audiobook and can't get enough. Very addictive, action packed. Flat out awesome. I'm kind of interested as to how we saw Rapp kind of reach his breaking point. Look forward to reading the next book and seeing what happens next!!! Loved it!!!!!Great book, Bad Ending
3By RontuuTitle says it all. Great read and then it just ends with zero fan fare. Didn't leave it feeling like a complete book. The Third Option
4By mrreddickThis is my second in the Rapp series and my opinion is it takes much longer for this one to get going and get you on the edge if your seat. It had good character continuity with Transfer Of Power. The Third Option
3By Pm in brklynI have read a number of the Mitch Rapp novels by Vince Flynn. Always page turners. This was no exception. But suddenly I was out of pages to turn. I thought maybe the book hadn't downloaded properly. Ultimately it was done. All the momentum that had been building was left open at the end. I suppose for another book as yet unwritten. It was a little disappointing.Bad ending
3By New guy86I was glued to this book and finished it in record time only to discover that the end left more things unanswered than it tied loose ends. I am disappointed that this book leave much unanswered although I know the author would like readers to seek the next book in the series to find out what happens. It's like watching a 2 part movie, the end of the first part leaves too much open.Excellent story, but interesting ending
5By CovbroThis is my second book in the Mitch Rapp series. It is an excellent story. However, the ending was interesting. I guess it was the author's way of provoking my interest in the next book.Does not dissapoint!
5By GebeattyAnother hit by Flynn.
