Description

The first book in the inspiring New York Times bestselling series about an executive who loses everything he holds dear and embarks on a walk across America that changes his life forever.

What would you do if you lost everything—your job, your home, and the love of your life—all at the same time? When it happens to Seattle ad executive Alan Christoffersen, he’s tempted by his darkest thoughts. Instead, he decides to take a walk. But not any ordinary walk. Taking with him only the barest of essentials, Alan leaves behind all that he’s known and heads for the farthest point on his map: Key West, Florida. The people he encounters along the way, and the lessons they share with him, will save his life—and inspire yours.

A life-changing journey, both physical and spiritual, The Walk is the first of an unforgettable bestselling series of books about one man’s search for hope.

The Steinbeck quote on page 331 or 333 from Travels with Charlie blew me away! It is what is happening today. We are having diversity pounded down our throats as if it is the only thing that is important. America has always been diverse. We need to get the unity and commonality back before it is gone forever! How did you know these things were going to happen? You books were a delight. I’m glad I went on the journey with you! Wasn't the kind of books that I just couldn't put down, and I admit he got so carried away in some of his writings that I found myself skipping over sections a couple of times, but all in all, it was ok. I read all five books, and they were all equally about the same. Not bad, not great...just ok.

Having read this on my iPad I thought surely there was more to this but it was indeed the end! There is a series and I shall surely continue on this life affirming walk/journal! It is amazing! I had just bought and halfway read the most dreadful book imaginable that is a trilogy and number one best seller! I was depressed that society had sunk so low! I deleted that insipid book from my library and would have burned it if it wasn't virtual! One must read this and get the books in order!

This is a nice story. Quick read. Somewhat predictable, but good nonetheless. I read this on vacation, so it was easy to pick up and read at pool, airport, before bed... It definitely made me want to read book 2 of the series, which I also downloaded as free on iBooks.

Finally, a modern day novel with feeling and conviction. It was refreshing to read a work of fiction which conveyed strong emotion without the obligatory four letter words and true passionate love without the usual unimaginative raunch writers of the modern era tend to rely on to sell books. Very poignant and hit the spot. Very well written. This writer has experienced the deeper side of life and has a message worth hearing. Can't wait to read the next installment.

RPE is an incredible writer! Each book makes you want to read the next. Makes you laugh, cry, feel the pain and keeps you coming back for more. Look forward to continuing the walk.

This book is amazing. Ive just started getting back into reading books and I randomly chose this one. I must admit, I could not have picked a better book to read for my new "book journey". It's inspiring, it's heart-felt, it's emotional, it's what a good book should be. I'm eager to read the sequel.
