Description

5By poparazi1A very well written story. It drags you in and you find yourself side by side with the story characters. You feel and live the story not only read it. It does not disappoints you. I recommend it to any one with a working imagination. As good as jumanji. Read it, it’s worth every minute you spend reading it. The end come way too soon. You will wish for it to be a few thousand words longer.Captivating!

3By PalatableDinnerI read the sequel Emperor’s Edge series first, but don’t think it’s necessary to. This book flows well enough, has decent action, and the romance is cute, though I did find a few typos and it’s not without its problems. It reinforces the “bury your gays” trope, barely passes the Bechdel Test, and perpetuates the problematic concept of the “exotic other” that has a history of objectifying women. Agarik tries to get Tikaya to make up with Rias by guilt tripping her with the responsibility of Rias’ mental health. Women are not responsible for how men deal with rejection. If Rias reverts to how he was after Krychek, it’s because of the men who take him there and all the men who stood by and did nothing, men Rias saved. But all he talks about is how her leaving him would apparently be a betrayal, and nothing of these other men. She doesn’t need to be his reason for living, and that’s not even getting into the fact that he had nothing to live for but still made an escape attempt before Tikaya came aboard. If I’m not misinformed, I understand that the author was writing both series simultaneously. However, making both feature a clumsy but knowledgeable female protagonist who wants “a page in the history books” and pines after a man ten years her senior who happens to be both highly intelligent and athletic damps down on the originality of both series.Excellent work
5By Austin is musicA sort of science fiction that allows you to reenter the real world and then all the sudden, oops I'm not on earth! Very engrossing with a solid plot that keeps moving along and it's hard to put down. Although the cover may give the idea this is another princess superpower it's far from it. Several characters could be called heros and they all have everyday faults also. I really liked the way the characters are easy to follow and the story pretty much stays focused on the primary ones but with regular comments of the rest of the world that is hinted at and intriguing. Well done book. You'll like it!Great read
4By SmithocracyLindsay Buroker is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I have enjoyed her Emperor's Edge series, and Encrypted does not disappoint. The characters are intriguing and the plot fun and fast paced. This is a great world she created and is a new favorite place to escape. I only gave it four stars because of the swearing in this book. It is not in the others. I will be honest, I am not a fan of swearing in any book, but for this world it seemed really unnatural. Each word, although there were only a few, took me out of the Buroker Universe and back into ours. She had previously set up a lot of world related slang, such as "rust" or "eat street." To see our own common slang just seemed out of place and unnatural to the societies in that world. So minus one star on that. Otherwise great book, I recommend her to all.Great series.

5By BarbleeruAnother good read by Lindsay Buroker. A stand alone book with a surprising assignment for my favorite assassin . The lead characters make you care about them even if they are a little less feisty than I'm use to by Lindsay.
