Description

Detective Isaac Bell returns, in the remarkable new adventure from the #1 New York Times-bestselling author.

It is 1910, the age of flying machines is still in its infancy, and newspaper publisher Preston Whiteway is offering $50,000 for the first daring aviator to cross America in less than fifty days. He is even sponsoring one of the prime candidates-an intrepid woman named Josephine Frost-and that's where Bell, chief investigator for the Van Dorn Detective Agency, comes in.

Frost's violent-tempered husband has just killed her lover and tried to kill her, and he is bound to make another attempt. Bell has tangled with Harry Frost before; he knows that the man has made his millions leading gangs of thieves, murderers, and thugs in every city across the country. He also knows that Frost won't be only after his wife, but after Whiteway as well. And if Bell takes the case . . . Frost will be after him, too.

This is another entertaining and easy reading book by Clive Cussler. The story sets at the beginning of the 19th century when aviation was in its infancy. The story is all you would expect from one of the greatest mystery story tellers of today. It's a good and quick read.

Boring book, convoluted plot, absolutely not engaging. The opposite of The Wrecker... Not a good Isac Belle story

Surely this wasn't actually written by Cussler. I'm a long time fan, but this book is the worst example of his style I have ever read. A disjointed plot, every minor and major character endowed with seemingly superhuman abilities, and the total lack of engagement that his direct approach usually garners. Stick with Dirk et al.

The high action and history makes anyone a Cussler lover. The race keeps you strapped in the cockpit as the early beginnings of air travel meet murder.

Clive Cussler is always very good. He has always had ships/boats and cars in books. He has recently added trains and cars, and now with this book...planes and cars.

Awesome! Classic Cussler. A barn burner from beginning to end. Every time I had to stop reading it I couldn't wait to get back to it. A must read. Do yourself a favor and read this.

A very entertaining and believable accounting of a very early 1900's air race and the shenanigans of crooks.

Excellent read, well disguised plot twists. As usual a bit flowery in scene descriptions but have come to expect this from this series.

Great book by cussler. Kept me guessing with plots and sub-plots until the last page. I normally buy the hardcover or paperback as soon as possible. Downloading it on my IPad was a novel experience. Don't miss this one.

The story line is great! When you think you know what is about to take place, you are totally in shock. Thus is the best book in the series, has the Fargo's beat by a country mile. I love the Oregon series but this book Made Bell my favorite hero character
