Reviews
Needs a new writer
1By Db#@JLJThis is a terribly shallow book. I have every book in the Fargo series and the first three were written by Grant Blackwood and those had depth, character and great plots....this Thomas Perry is taking a free ride on Clive Cussler. Don't waste your money!Finished weak
4By BeakerA10First 3/4 of book was fantastic. Last 1/4 felt like the author was trying to finish quickly. Wish the finish had more detail.Stinks
1By Jayn100Don't waste you money. Not good at all.Fargos rock!!!
5By CaKrisOnly a little pun intended. This is another strong vehicle in the Fargo series. This series is not like either the NUMA nor the Dirk Pitt novels. It IS just as great a pager turner. Issues tend to be more attuned to the social & moral problems found in modern times. All of which are descended from a real event in history. Cussler uses wonderful research with which he places his entertaining imaginary frogs in some very real and also in some very imaginative gardens.Myan secreat
5By VeroimaniVery good i realy liked the archeology and historuVery good!
4By McZachary44I almost wanted to give it 5 stars! I really enjoyed the book, but it had its problems. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I would still recomend this book to anyone! The Mayan Secrets
1By Suzb115SimplisticMayan secrets
2By GlennMetcalfWeak story line could have been fully developed in half the lengthSuch a disappointment!
1By BeckaraeI've been a huge fan of Clive Cussler's books, but this one was such a disappointment! What could have been a gripping story (who doesn't love Mayan treasure?) turned out to be stilted, poorly written and well, just boring. This isn't Cussler's writing
1By EnsPulverHaving become a literary success, Cussler is now apparently farming out his books to be written by elementary school children. "The Mayan Secrets" is a waste of time and money for anyone who enjoyed his early works. Very disappointing. The Mayan Secrets
1By K-BobbsterThis was a huge disappointment.Awful
1By SharptownI think Clive is writing 1% of the books now. What a difference from his heyday (which I loved) and today, where his name is a marketing tool. If I could return it I would. It feels like fraud and is the last "Cussler" book I will buy.The Mayan Secrets
5By pocharI'm familiar with the Mayans of Mexico and Belize having visited them often. They are a friendly, welcoming people. This book brought it all back, the Mayan archaeological sites, the towns with their now-Catholic churches, the rural areas where they live much as they have for a long time past. It held my interest from cover to cover.3 stars is generous!
3By CmpbritI am a huge fan of Clive Cussler and that is the reason for three stars instead of one. To be quite frank if this were the first book of his I'd read I would not read another! If it is your first foray into Cusslers body of work do not judge him harshly as this book is atypical and not up to his usual gold standard. Read Cusslers 'Inca Gold' or 'Sahara' before putting this authors work in the mundane category. The Oregon Files series of books are amazing as are the Isaac Bell novels. Clive Cussler is wonderful and this book is definitely not of the quality we've grown to expect from him.Jim
2By Good havenThis book was not up to the usual high standards for a Cussler novel. Story line seemed disjointed with a lot of filler. I've read just about all the Cussler books and this one is by far the most disappointing effort by Cussler.Yawn!
2By SkiGrl-TThe first 3/4 of the book were flat, predictable, and completely lacking in depth. The characters had as much complexity and realism as a paint-by-number. I'm a die hard Cussler fan, but I'm not sure he actually put pen to paper until the last 70 or so pages. Disappointing. Mr. Cussler, if you're done writing, please just put your pen down. I feel rather cheated by these "co-authored" books. The Mayan Secrets
5By BoysmumasBoysmumas Excellent read. Love Sam and Remi but not so Selma. She's too smart and efficient and makes people like me feel lazy. Could she just take a nap once in a while? The Mayan Secrets
2By Peg1gyThis shallow romp through the jungle is not up to par for Cussler. Flat characters and not enough history to make it interesting make the book almost boring. I paid for this?
