Description
From the author of the international bestseller Only Time Will Tell, Jeffrey Archer picks up the sweeping story of the Clifton Chronicles with The Sins of the Father.
Only days before Britain declares war on Germany, Harry Clifton, hoping to escape the consequences of long-buried family secrets, and forced to accept that his desire to marry Emma Barrington will never be fulfilled, has joined the Merchant Navy. But his ship is sunk in the Atlantic by a German U-boat, drowning almost the entire crew. An American cruise liner, the SS Kansas Star, rescues a handful of sailors, among them Harry and the third officer, an American named Tom Bradshaw. When Bradshaw dies in the night, Harry seizes on the chance to escape his tangled past and assumes his identity.
But on landing in America, he quickly learns the mistake he has made, when he discovers what is awaiting Bradshaw in New York. Without any way of proving his true identity, Harry Clifton is now chained to a past that could be far worse than the one he had hoped to escape.

I’m all in
5By EdgySayThis series is a five star vacation !Great book. Hard to put down
5By applebobrThis story dives more into the life of Harry Clifton and those surrounding him. There are twists and turns and deaths and births. Awesome writingPredictable
4By frosttieDid not enjoy this book as much as I did the 1st of the series. I found it predictable and at times unbelievable. What I did appreciate was the tying up of the story line. With the preview of the third book of the Clifton family Chronicles I am satisfied, but see no need to continue reading. To summarize it was enjoyable well written and enjoyable. He did it again!
5By SupraNaeJust when I thought I couldn't be sucked into reading another book so soon, I'll be on to book 3 as soon as I post this. Amazing read!Hollow plot
2By RodonisleWhile the story line gets longer, so too does the improbable acts of the caractors and obvious inattention to background details and basic reaseach of the time, place, and situations in which the story takes place. Especially weak is the understanding of the America of the day, with Maranda Rights being read decades before they existed, and the Army Rangers being mistaken for the Texas Rangers. Many such flaws lead this reader to disbeleve all background details that otherwise could have made up for impossible plot twists and logical dead ends. After the first book, it reads more and more as just written rambles of the authors imagination devoid of proper review, research, or an editor. Not as good as
4By asdfg-/:;(12345Not as good as the previos ( Only Time ...) Written with less care, like more in a harry. The plot complications are solve suddenly with some like magic solution. Nevertheless it is a good reading.Intriguing and captivating
5By zarb1232This series is my first venture in reading works by Jeffery Archer. I find his style keeps my attention throughout. His characters have become complete individuals to me.Too predictable...
2By stepwillThe second book in this series, is no better than the first, which I purchased using an iTunes "deal". In my opinion, the characters develop very slowly, with no depth to them, and the author's decision to start a section with "Harry 1939" merely serves to "compartmentalise" them further. I'll pass on the last two of this series.Sins of the Father
5By OneshotmommaThis was the second book in the series and I enjoyed it every bit as much as the first. Just wish the ending didn't leave me hanging. Not sure when his next book in this series will be released. Not happy to have to wait.Sins of the father
5By Jambking45Horrible book. Hopefully the first book explained what was going on but why should you have to buy another book to understand the book you are reading. The plot is implausible and characters lack any semblance of intelligence. I have to say I've never read a more poorly written book.Sins of the Father
1By michaelfgouldThis is without a doubt one of the worst books I've ever read. It was geared toward a ninth grader. In fact, I kept thinking I was reading a "young reader" book. The characters are two dimensional, predictable. The plot is maudlin. I have to give it only one star the worst rating I've given a book since I began rating books in 2006. Don't bother reading it. It is a waste of time.Stuart AKA fiction1
5By Stu2youAs always left on the edge of my seat loved all of Sir Jeffrey Archers books. The Sins of the Father
1By Wedge LanePoorly written. Not to the authors normal standard.Great read
5By RilopFound this second part better than the first; and that's saying a lot since I gave that a solid 4/5. Like all his books, fast, entertaining and quick reads.Great Read but left hanging
3By IzziBella1994647829107464801I thoroughly enjoyed the stories of the characters lives and how they intertwined, but was left feeling empty at the conclusion of the book. In fact, I checked a couple of times to make sure I wasn't mistaken that there were no more pages left to read! Not really a full novel, Part 2
3By Chirp! This is the middle third of a saga. It picks up in the middle and then just stops. No story arc, no resolution, and like the first book, it reads like Part II of a so-so miniseries. It continues a question asked in the first book, and abruptly quits the moment before the question is answered. STAY TUNED--for a book that isn't even written yet.Amazing
5By MCNWAwesome book! Love the way jeffrey archer tells a storyGreat book
