Description
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jeffrey Archer, the Clifton Chronicles continues with Best Kept Secret.
1945, London. The vote in the House of Lords as to who should inherit the Barrington family fortune has ended in a tie. The Lord Chancellor's deciding vote will cast a long shadow on the lives of Harry Clifton and Giles Barrington. Harry returns to America to promote his latest novel, while his beloved Emma goes in search of the little girl who was found abandoned in her father's office on the night he was killed. When the general election is called, Giles Barrington has to defend his seat in the House of Commons and is horrified to discover who the Conservatives select to stand against him. But it is Sebastian Clifton, Harry and Emma's son, who ultimately influences his uncle's fate.
In 1957, Sebastian wins a scholarship to Cambridge, and a new generation of the Clifton family marches onto the page. But after Sebastian is expelled from school, he unwittingly becomes caught up in an international art fraud involving a Rodin statue that is worth far more than the sum it raises at auction. Does he become a millionaire? Does he go to Cambridge? Is his life in danger? Best Kept Secret, the third volume in Jeffrey Archer's bestselling series, will answer all these questions but, once again, pose so many more.

Could be better
3By R8AGHalf of the book was boring!A roll a coaster of a story
5By EdgySayIt just keeps you on the edge of your seat .. I’m losing sleep ! I hate to stop readingWow!

4By Maxthegreat2Excellent reading, interesting story plot follows first two books with increased detail on characters.Fluff
2By RodonisleAs are the previous in the series, this is a bit of entertaining written fluff with which to pass the time. The improbable plots, behavors of the cartoon depth characters, and the gross liberties with history and even reality, left this reader wondering if any editor or fact checking research was attempted. Simple details, like how military letters are signed, color blind genetics, origins of slang phrases, etc. etc put a damper on what could have been, with a bit more effort, a tale worth telling. If such is not a peeve, and nothing of the people places and times is taken as believable, a long storyline will keep you reading and reading.Awesome
5By mkh12Love the seriesNot the best
2By RiverSceneToo many plot twists that didn't make sense. Lazy editing. This is just something to read if you have absolutely nothing better on the shelf. Disappointing.Best kept secret
5By JpjackGreat book, hard to put down. Once again he ends the book with you hanging....craving the rest of the story.....when is the next one to be expected!????1/2 a book!
3By LiliBannerThis appears to be the first half of a full story; similar to a television series ending a season with the cliff hanger designed to have views tune in for the next season's premier episode. The story is a typical Jeffrey Archer tale; most enjoyable reading. It is rated with only three stars because it appears the story appears to be only 1/2 way complete. Hopefully, Mr. Archer will garner the remaining 2 stars in his "next episode" of this story; and the next episode actually has an ending that comes to some degree of closure regarding the various cast of characters.Excellent!
5By SuzieW215As usual, I'll be waiting on pins & needles til the next Archer book comes out!Great series
5By XmipadCan't wait for the next one!Best Kept Secret
3By CLL813Inconclusive and disturbing cliff-hanger ending.....clearly awaits the fourth in the series.Best Kept Secret
3By Acura999I have read every book written by Jeffrey Archer. This book had its magic touch and was good but not his best. The ending was totally abrupt and unacceptable. I'm sure there must be another book in the making. Let's hope that the kid who actually dies in the car accident is not the one we are led to believe perishes. Based on the title of this book, I now know that the ending makes sense: Best Kept Secret!best kept secret
1By Bj bommerone of, if not the worst endings I have ever read in i60 years of reading novels. Who got killed? Both boys or 1? Please tell mOnly Time Will Tell
5By Bob ExpoI sure hope there is a sequel to this story. Based on what I had read this was to be a trilogy. I have not been able to find out if there is going to be a next on the Clifton's story.Best Kept Secret
3By An OracleI'm a big fan of Jeffery Archer. However, while this book is very well written, it is the first time I have been disappointed with the ending. It just felt rushed and the timing was inappropriate in my opinion. I write short stories for my family and friends and I'm known to do exactly what he did at the end. The difference is that my stories are chapters and the reader knows the suspenseful ending is coming in the next chapter. As an ending to a book, even though its a series, I feel it could and should have been better thought out. Will I buy the next one? Yes but reluctantly.Best Kept Secret
5By BrendaSkindaPancakeWonderful read. Surprise ending.Meh- ok
2By subluxationkillerTook a long time to get through this one. I think the author got tired of writing as well. Umm is there a fourth book, or is that really how this series ends?
