Description

Stella Gunn is the lead singer and lead guitarist of the Blue Moon Gypsies and Stella used to be Mace’s girl. But Kai “Mace” Mason ended things and the loss of him rocked her world.

One night, Stella gets a call, late (again), from one of the members of her crazy band. She has to go play clean up (again), runs into Mace (and a shed load of police) and ends up getting shot.

Mace finds he doesn’t like it much that his ex-girlfriend got shot right in front of him, but it’s worse. A very bad man has thrown down the gauntlet and all the Rock Chicks are in the firing line.

Stella doesn’t want Mace to be the one to keep her alive, but she has no choice.

Mainly because Mace isn’t giving her one.

I am SO glad I ignored the negative reviews for this book. Sure, this installment of the Rock Chick series was darker and less goofy than the rest. But I truly believe Ms. Ashley wrote some of her best work here- the characters are deep, complex, and passionate. Their trauma is what binds them and strengthens them and their love. Stella's character was beautiful, strong, and loving. Mace was broken but he treated Stella with care after they got through their initial crap. I read in other reviews that people thought Stella pulled Mace along for too long, and that Mace was "abusive". I expected to be disappointed. I think those reviewers read a different book than I did, because compared to the rest of the series I felt like Stella let Mace in faster than a number of the previous ladies. Their story was profound, beautiful, HOT, and more rich than the past books. I also enjoyed the extra POV's that allowed us moments with our past favorite couples, and gave us a chance to see Stella and Mace from the outside. I did NOT read the epilogue after hearing that it contained season spoilers- I'll read it after I finish the season. TLDR; this book was INCREDIBLE- don't listen to the negative reviews. Some of Kristen Ashley's best work.

Mace and Stella's story is pure Rock and Roll. I wasn't surprised to find the Jane was the newspaper informant, however, I was surprised to find out she was the author of the series.

Only book of KA I've ever gave such a low rating! Never been so disappointed! Mace is better than this and the book didn't reflect that at all! Two thumbs down! 😢
  • Great, Except that Epilogue is full of Spoilers for Rest of Series!

I enjoyed this installment in the Rock Chick series. Stella and Mace made good main characters, and I enjoyed the chemistry between them. The storyline was good, and the book was fast paced and had plenty of action. All of the references to music and to particular songs added a great deal to the atmosphere of the book. Stella Gunn misses so much about Kai "Mace" Mason, who broke up with her a year ago after dating for several months. Even so, she isn't ready to put her heart on the line for him again when he comes back into her life. While she'd much rather avoid him, it appears that her life is in danger due to her past connections with him, and he is determined to keep her safe. I loved seeing all of the Rock Chicks/Hot Bunch Boys in this one. Stella and Mace were a good couple, although Stella's reluctance to be with Mace was annoying at times. Overall, I really liked both of them and enjoyed the story. I'm one of those readers who doesn't normally even look at a synopsis to see who the next book is about before I start it, so I was very disappointed that the epilogue gave away not only who the couples are in the next two books, but also how many children those couples to come have 5 years after the end of Rock Chick Reckoning, their genders, and even names. That was neat for the couples whose stories we've already read, but not good at all for the books left to come in the series! I've never read an epilogue before this that spoiled the next two books! This absolutely affected my feelings about and rating of the book.
