Margaret Simon, almost twelve, has just moved from New York City to the suburbs, and she’s anxious to fit in with her new friends. When she’s asked to join a secret club she jumps at the chance. But when the girls start talking about boys, bras, and getting their first periods, Margaret starts to wonder if she’s normal. There are some things about growing up that are hard for her to talk about, even with her friends. Lucky for Margaret, she’s got someone else to confide in . . . someone who always listens.

3By IN memberMargaret is worried about many things that other young teens are processing. I think young girls would find comfort in the fact that they have company on braving new benchmarks as they enter the teen years. Why this is on banned book lists is beyond me!Really good book

5By Late Judy BlumerI’m 71 and I’m reading Judy’s books. I wasn’t even aware of her books when I was growing up. I lived a very sheltered life. Oh what I missed! Better late than ever. I’m revisiting my childhood and it’s great fun!Good!
