An Instant #1 Indie Bestseller!
Return to the opulent world of Elfhame, filled with intrigue, betrayal, and dangerous desires, with this first book of a captivating new duology from the #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black.
A runaway queen. A reluctant prince. And a quest that may destroy them both.
Eight years have passed since the Battle of the Serpent. But in the icy north, Lady Nore of the Court of Teeth has reclaimed the Ice Needle Citadel. There, she is using an ancient relic to create monsters of stick and snow who will do her bidding and exact her revenge.
Suren, child queen of the Court of Teeth, and the one person with power over her mother, fled to the human world. There, she lives feral in the woods. Lonely, and still haunted by the merciless torments she endured in the Court of Teeth, she bides her time by releasing mortals from foolish bargains. She believes herself forgotten until the storm hag, Bogdana chases her through the night streets. Suren is saved by none other than Prince Oak, heir to Elfhame, to whom she was once promised in marriage and who she has resented for years.
Now seventeen, Oak is charming, beautiful, and manipulative. He’s on a mission that will lead him into the north, and he wants Suren’s help. But if she agrees, it will mean guarding her heart against the boy she once knew and a prince she cannot trust, as well as confronting all the horrors she thought she left behind.

Okay SO! Mixed feelings (Excuse the Grammar)!
4By folkoftheairfanAt first I thought okay this book is kind of mediocre and there’s way too much romance for my taste (nothing inappropriate just that the MC talks about another character every 5 seconds) and it felt more like a romance as the main plot then a subplot, and the other books in the series make it more of a subplot. I also was disappointed how it never goes back to Elfhame, as I had assumed at first that it was still in that location. On its own, it is a great book. Though, I honestly thought it was horrible at the beginning because, in addition to everything stated, problems were resolved or dealt with incredibly quickly. Also, everything felt very boring and didn’t rlly stop feeling like that until the ending (I assumed it would be more exciting at some point). Now, I realize many of my assumptions were WRONG. All this was to set the stage for the next book, so obviously it won’t be like the other ones. And the next book will go back to Elfhame, which I am extremely excited about. The plot twists were predictable except for the ending, where I was left GAGGED. I mean WOW. Holly Black, you’ve done it again. Beautiful tie to the title and left me scrolling to go to the next chapter (which was unfortunately nonexistent) saying “THAT’S IT?”. Even though the ending left me wanting for more, I will say I am disappointed by how similar Jude and Cardan are to Wren and Oak. The relationship dynamic and personalities have an uncanny resemblance. I am sure this was intended, though I assumed there would be a bit more variety in the main characters. While I believe it was a very good book, I did find many issues along the way. 4/5 stars though because I could never truly give a Holly Black novel 3 stars.just finished the book and wow
5By Yumna HyathI really enjoyed this book, it kept me hooked from start to end. Something that I love about Holly Black’s Folk of the Air books is that they all contain such insane descriptions, events, and storylines that you forget you’re reading with the movie playing inside of your head. It also made me forget about their end goal since there were so many events happening in a small time span, that is something that I admire. Even though this books is incredible, it did get a bit dry at some parts since there was a lot of dialogue. I would have also liked to see more of Wren’s unfamily since they were mentioned a lot, but I would assume that they would make a larger appearance in the second book. I would have also liked to see more of Oak and Wren getting some good friendship developments, which ofc, we did get, but I expected more. Then again, it will most likely be in the second book. Overall I really enjoyed this book since it was vivid and involved tons of different adventures (I may have felt a lot of joy and deja vu when Jude, Cardan, and other OG characters from the Cruel Prince trilogy were mentioned;). A round of applause again for Holly Black :)It’s not the cruel prince
5By OrianaAngelicI really enjoyed this book! I actually found it faster developing than the original series, and I might be the odd man out but I prefer characters who have more likable traits. The OG folk of the air series has a lot of dark characters and I like how in this one Oak really shows his influence from the human world. There’s lots of twists and turns, it is a little predictable at times, but it’s interesting. The cliff hanger ending has me very excited for the next book.a sequel?
5By Roya100Started slow but picked up steam. I thought this was a stand-alone book but seems like there will be a sequel at some point. I enjoyed getting to know Wren in this novel, and hope in the next one we learn more about Oak from his POV.Too short!
3By stella090909Overall I like being brought to Elfhame again, Wrens and Oaks journey kept me up all night. Yet I can’t shake off the feeling of Stolen Heir was too rushed, I’d want more details and characters growth etc, too short of a story to make up a book. Minus one star for it. Minus another star for being literally short book that shouldn’t be priced $14.99. CmonCan’t Wait for Book Two
5By CathlahanI really enjoyed this book. I think there are and will continue to be people who are disappointed that it’s not The Cruel Prince. And they’re right; it’s not. But it is a wonderful story with interesting characters and unexpected twists. I loved Wren and Oak. I loved seeing a glimpse of Oak’s dynamic with his family after all the time we spent in Jude’s POV. I hope to see everything work out for these characters in the next book, and I am excited to get in Oak’s head next time.Worth the wait
5By browneyesblueWhen Holly Black announced that she was writing a new book involving Oak , I was filled to the brim with excitement. After reading The Stolen Heir, Wren is such a great character. I’m so glad that she was chosen to be the protagonist. Now to wait patiently for the release of the final book in the duology.THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD🙏🙏
