Description
A girl makes a secret sacrifice to the faerie king in this lush New York Times bestselling fantasy by author Holly Black. Set in the same world as The Cruel Prince!
In the woods is a glass coffin. It rests on the ground, and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives....
Hazel and her brother, Ben, live in Fairfold, where humans and the Folk exist side by side. Since they were children, Hazel and Ben have been telling each other stories about the boy in the glass coffin, that he is a prince and they are valiant knights, pretending their prince would be different from the other faeries, the ones who made cruel bargains, lurked in the shadows of trees, and doomed tourists. But as Hazel grows up, she puts aside those stories. Hazel knows the horned boy will never wake.
Until one day, he does....
As the world turns upside down, Hazel has to become the knight she once pretended to be.
The Darkest Part of the Forest is bestselling author Holly Black's triumphant return to the opulent, enchanting faerie tales that launched her YA career.

My new favorite!
5By Jo Blevins :)I got this book thinking I was just gonna fill some time but I fell in love with it. I love each character, the mystery, the setting, it’s all wonderful. To find out there wasn’t a sequel hurt me deep in my bones. I’m going to be reading much more Holly Black in the days to come.It was okay...
1By monica0117939I really love most of Holly Black’s books but this one was a little disappointing.Holly Black is life.
5By Sincerely SabrinaLoved it!!!Something missing
3By Love, life, and pinterestI actually liked this book. I thought it was an interesting story with a little mystery. I can't pinpoint exactly what I didn't like, I just felt like it was missing something.Could of been better
3By BissshhhhI love Holly Black! My kind of author and genre. But this book was very slow and boring. I thought more was going to happen since the beginning started with such a great fairy tale story. I recommend any other Holly Black book, but this one had a hard time catching up. As much as I loved the characters and their looks, it was kinda difficult to know which sibling the horned boy was attracted too. And for a character that the book is based around, you barely see him in the book at all. This would be a cute and appropriate book for someone 14-16 who’s starting to read more mature books, since Holly Black’s books are much more dark and violent with a hint of beautiful romance. Love love love Holly Black tho, my fairy Gothmother!I loved it
5By Leslie-waSuch a sucker for faeries and Holly Black. Wished I would've bought this in paperback to keep forever but waiting till I got my hands on it to read it after the free preview was too much. I absolutely loved the characters, the story and setting. I hope she never stops writing not many faerie books out there and she is absolutely amazing at bringing this other world to life.Absolutely in LOVE
5By Niko_WildThis is one of the most well written books I have ever read. It's a book many gay kids never thought they would ever get. It enhanced my sense of "normal" in the best way. Holly Black is a visionary tying In the realities of the modern world as well as the magical world in which lurks in our shadows. It is a must read for anyone. The way she utilizes words is enchanting. If I could give more than 5 stars you bet I would. Will defiantly be reading more of her books!Time well spent...
5By Peachie's MomHolly Black does another masterful job of giving voice to our dark and sinister dreams and musings with bark, leaf, and bone in the land of the fae. Again, these are not the tales of childhood but the real tales of lesson and triumph meant to inspire the reader to feats beyond their station and beyond imagination. Lovely read, beautifully flawed and embraceable characters in a world you can't help but want to be a part of.. In all its beautiful horror.
