Description
Private investigator Cormoran Strike must track down a missing writer -- and a sinister killer bent on destruction -- in this "wonderfully entertaining" mystery (Harlan Coben, New York Times Book Review) that inspired the acclaimed HBO Max series C.B. Strike.
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days -- as he has done before -- and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives -- meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him. When Quine is found brutally murdered under bizarre circumstances, Strike must race against time to understand the motivation of a ruthless killer, a killer unlike any he has encountered before . . . A compulsively readable crime novel with twists at every turn, The Silkworm is the second in J. K. Rowling's highly acclaimed series featuring Cormoran Strike and his determined young assistant, Robin Ellacott.

Great except …
4By Jt098For me, I found the descriptions from the novel written by the murdered author, as well as the murder itself, too intense and grotesque. And as they were repeated throughout the book, I was unable to erase it from my head. It took a lot for me to continue to read, but I enjoyed very much the main characters - Strike & Robin - so I did finish it. Also, LOVE a mystery that doesn’t get solved until the end. Lots of suspects and twists. Better would have been a lot less grotesque and more mystery twists/turns leading to finding the truth of what happened.Cringe
3By KmillercaThe actual mystery is decent but the character filler for strike and robin has my eye rolling very far back into my head.Hard to put down
4By TerieliseThoroughly enjoyed this odd mystery. Lively characters, strange personalities and circumstances to create a fascinating read.Hooked by this author
5By Giv10After reading the first Galbraith novel I couldn’t wait to start the second and am now reading the third of the series. The books are so subtle and well written. The author, once again, leads the reader down an organized path of interesting and well defined characters. The endings are conclusive and satisfying. A great read, can’t say enough about how interestingly well they are written. I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys absorbing stories with intelligent characters who are described with just enough detail for the reader to use their own imagination. The Silkworm
1By CindijmI got this book thinking it would be great because JK Rowling had written it. Boy was I wrong! This was, by far, THE WORST book I have ever wasted my time on! If I could have given it a negative rating, I would have. Very disjointed with a lot of meaningless verbiage which felt like it was added just to increase the length of the book. Very disappointed. The Silkworm
5By HalsterxExcellent read. It was hard to follow all of the characters with all of the references to the imaginary book, BUT I couldn’t put it down. Interesting plot twists. Highly recommend “The Silkworm”!Loved it
5By Ambertje83I love all the Cormoran Strike books. Can’t wait for the next one alreadyA bit of a letdown
3By Sbcg79Was expecting another great hit, but it didn’t bring it as the first one did.The Silkworm
5By Brenda BrophyThoroughly enjoyed it. Plots within plots and a very surprising ending. With 100 pages left I could not put it down. One of THE best Books of this genre I’ve read in years. I could Not put it down as the plot unfoldedGenius! Can't wait for next Galbraith, uh, Rowling
5By Granny5050Reading this book was a pleasurable experience. A master writer, "Galbraith" develops characters and drops hints throughout the book that still led to a surprise ending. If you deign to read this book at intervals, you better wait until you have uninterrupted time because this THE SILKWORM is a page-turner.
