As with all trilogies I worry I won't be able to remember enough to pick up where it left off last. All that is noticeable is the letter from Hallie. I remember the letter but everything leading up to this letter is gone from my memory. I'm hoping to gain it along the way but fear it's vanished. I almost need a recap from the last story to refresh my memory. As I read further along maybe it does not matter that I no longer remember the fine details of the first story. I need to treat this as a book on its own and relish the new encounter-ships. It's a new start and a new journey for Rory. What I do remember clearly is how Cassia can tear up the pages with those sexy sex scenes. HOT. Love the smoldering scenes between Rory and Houston. Those are some arousing scenes that make you want to join in on the action. I like the direction Houston is taking to win back Rory. Houston's POV of the story is fascinating. This story contains part three and part four. I'm not sure where Cassia is going with this new character Hannah. It's a bit distracting and I would like to know the intent of this character and how she is going to have an impact on Rory. Just when a character starts to have something interesting to divulge Cassia switches topics. Sometimes the thought process ends abruptly. I want to say to Cassia, "hey! I was reading that and would like to finish what train of thought they were on". I'm sorry but the story got weird at the end. I was confused by the events that took place. I understand it was to progress the story along, but all it indicates to me is that the final book will contain more drama and roadblocks for Rory and Houston. I'm not sure my heart can take anymore drama.

I really, really liked the first book. I don't know what happened, but this second book was just such a disappointment. I did not like the the route the author decided to go by making the entire book about Rory moving. The entire book. I just got so sick of reading it. I don't even care what happens in the third. I will definitely not be purchasing the third. Such a disappointment.

Houston, Rory, Kenny and the Lumberjack are back!! I'm so in love with these characters and couldn't wait to dive back in! I was constantly on the edge of my seat swiping my finger just dying to get to the next chapter! I thought the first book in the series was intense, but this one takes the cake! This book sent me on an emotional roller coaster. I really felt everything they went through deep in my soul! They are so likable and relatable and as per usual they sucked me in to their world! I'm so intrigued and invested in everyone and found myself laughing, crying and at times yelling at my kindle! Lol! The story flows at a perfect pace with the right amount of light heartedness, darkness, steaminess, conflict and love. There's something brewing and with an awesomely wicked ending like that, I cannot wait for the final book in the series! As always Cassia Leo blew me away!

The Way We Break continues the story of Rory, Houston, and Liam. Rory's world has collapsed around her and she jumps at the chance to escape the pain, betrayal, and heartbreak for a fresh start with Liam in California. While Houston was the love of her life, he's broken her heart again and she can't trust him. Rory is determined to move on and focus on her writing. Houston is determined to get his life in order so that he can get Rory back. He is incredibly persistent and devises a unique plan to win over the love of his life yet again. Liam provides Rory with the space she needs to start piecing her heart back together, and more importantly the opportunity to write. The Way We Break is an engaging and emotional story with plenty of surprises that I didn't want to put down. This is not a standalone book and you have this series in order to understand the characters, events, and history. *I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

This story has so many emotions. You can go from happy and laughing to felling sad and then needing a fan to cool off. I have found an even greater love for Houston in this book. He is pulling out all the stops to win Rory back. Man, can Tessa get anymore crazy? That woman is a piece of work!! I can't help but smile at the new relationships Houston has formed. He's such a great guy. As for Rory and Liam all I can say is WOW!! You have to read it to know what I'm talking about. So many new and unexpected developments. My emotions were all over the place in the last part of the story. I was scared, heart broken, and sad. Then came some more happiness and HOTness and then BAM it was like WTH happened here. I'm absolutely loving this series and sooooooo ready for book 3 lol!
  • Well worth the read!!

Another book by Cassia I fell in love with. Her characters are always so real. I love that they have more than one dimension. She manages to tackle some big topics with such grace. The journey is amazing as we continue on with Houston, Rory, Kenny, and Liam. Parts will leave you angry or laughing. Sometimes everything is not as it appears on the surface. Often we need to take big risks, like moving 600 miles to achieve our goals. Moving in with someone we hardly know. Sometimes we are surprised where the help is actually comes from when we learn the truth. Can't wait to see how their story ends in The Way We Rise

I'm never disappointed with Cassia Leo's books. I was already invested in these characters from book one and liked them even more in book two. It's picks up where book one left off. This was well written and I can't wait to see where the next book will take us.

I love this series. There are so many twists and turns that you will never see coming. This series starts with The Way We Fall. We learn the background of this story there, and the characters continue to grow in The Way We Break. The plot twists several times throughout and left me with a racing heart in the end. I'm now impatiently waiting for the next one!
