THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
“Looking for a suspense novel that will keep you up until way past midnight? Look no further than Lock Every Door, by Riley Sager.”—Stephen King
No visitors. No nights spent elsewhere. No disturbing the rich and famous residents. These are the rules for Jules Larsen’s new job apartment sitting at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan’s most high-profile buildings. Recently heartbroken—and just plain broke—Jules is taken in by the splendor and accepts the terms, ready to leave her past life behind.
As she gets to know the occupants and staff, Jules is drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid, who reminds her so much of the sister she lost eight years ago. When Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew has a dark history hidden beneath its gleaming façade, Jules brushes it off as a harmless ghost story—until the next day when Ingrid seemingly vanishes.
Searching for the truth, Jules digs deeper into the Bartholomew’s sordid past. But by uncovering the secrets within its walls, Jules exposes herself to untold terrors. Because once you’re in, the Bartholomew doesn’t want you to leave....

5By mermzieIt is always a pleasure to read a story that is so compelling and moves like babbling brook. A surprising heroine and a desperate wish that subplots the book from page one through and last the final page.So good.

4By crypticcalYou’d think I’d have read enough thrillers to know better than to accept the easy answer, but I ate it right out of Riley Sager’s palm. The truth was far more satisfying, though. A gripping and worthwhile ending to an all-around exciting read!Fast-Paced Page Turner
5By OzcromeIf one-third through this fast-paced thriller you are curious to see if the setting is inspired by a real building, don’t go searching the internet. Spoilers are too easily found. Just enjoy the story! The characters are great and the pace is perfect.Couldn’t put it down

5By RludmanJules is desperate She got let go from her job in New York City only to return home to her boyfriend sleeping with someone else. Without money, a job, a place to live, Jules is running out of options. But when an advertisement for an apartment sitter comes up in the famed Bartholomew with views of Central Park, the opportunity is too good to be true. Despite the weird interview questions, strict rules, and strange residents, Jules accepts the offer and moves in. I wouldn’t consider myself a thriller reader. I have liked some in the past but books never scare me or thill me so I turn more towards more literary books. This book didn’t freak me out or blow my mind, but it was really fun. I loved the structure of the novel the way it goes back and forth between *now* and the days leading up to the present. From the beginning you know that something shady is going on, but there were some fun twists and turns to keep you guessing. I love the spooky apartment building setting complete with spiral stairs, dumbwaiter, and gargoyles! There’s even a bit of social commentary in here which I liked. I borrowed the ebook from the library and devoured it in a day. I’ve seen books by this author on here often and praise from @moby.fict and @ddroche. I’m definitely going to read another. ★★★★★ • 📱 eBook • Fiction - Thriller • Published by Dutton on July 2, 2019. ◾︎Normally don’t leave bad reviews

2By CentralCALadyDon’t waste your money. Characters are cardboard and plot is childish. Only kept reading because stuck at home due to Chinese Coronavirus.Apartment Thriller!!
5By MrsM22As I sit here and type, I can't help but wonder, would I have signed up to be an apartment sitter if I were in Jules' situation? You betcha! Any single individual in need of a place to live would likely have had no problem applying for this gig, not to mention the thousand dollars a week salary provided just to babysit said upscale apartment! That's just how they get you; promises of a too-good-to-be-true lifestyle, offering plenty of cash and peace of mind as you rebuild your life. I'd probably take endless baths and read all day myself! The grandeur of the Bartholomew alone is enough to sweep any concerns under the rug! Unfortunately for Jules', she's forced to pick up all of the pieces of her life the hard way... but can she pick them all up? Riley Sager has succeeded in captivating me right from the start, pulling me in and holding tight until that jaw-dropping-didn't-see-it-coming twist at the end! This may be my first novel by this author, but it certainly will not be my last! The mere fact that we're given Jules' early thoughts and experiences right alongside the "now" six days later makes it all the more intriguing. I, for one, was under the impression that the apartment building was haunted, wallpaper and all. Maybe I was right. I enjoyed the contrast between the two timelines; the now sections, so emergent and desperate, connected with Jules' initial, raw, and assumedly innocent encounters quite well. At first glance, the end felt a tad bit out of left-field, yet after a moment or two, all of the pieces connected in a way bringing everything full circle. I would recommend this book to everyone! Even those who don't typically read thrillers may find themselves coming to the dark side... check it out! Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers from Penguin Random House, and the author Riley Sager for providing me with a complimentary copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.
