Description

Grier’s fiery passion for Salena might be everything his dragon ever wanted but loving her might just lead to the destruction of everything he’s trying to save.

With all that is happening in his land, the upcoming shifter mating ceremony is the least of Grier’s concerns. Even though he is heir prince of the dragon-shifters, he doesn’t have the authority needed to help the humans stranded in dragon territory, nor can he banish those who ruthlessly control them. Yet honor demands he finds an opportunity to intervene, and he hopes that doing so won’t start a war the shifters can’t win. Discovering his destined mate couldn’t have come at a worse time.

Salena knows what it is like to be a pawn of the Federation. They might have kidnapped her and brought her to this strange territory, but she will never do what they want of her… what everyone wants of her. The last thing the fugitive needs is the very public attention of a fierce dragon prince claiming they’re fated by the gods—even if the sexy man makes her burn in more ways than one.

Some may think Salena has a gift, but after a lifetime of experience she knows not only is it a curse, but those who are ethically challenged will hunt her to the ends of the galaxy to use her for purposes she’d rather not think about. Grier is a Prince who will someday be King, as such he looks at Shelter City and recognizes it for the complicated situation it is. A powder keg on the verge of exploding in their faces, a place his people don’t have dominion over, yet feel as though they are being prevented from living in harmony with as well. This done in one story establishes the situation on Qurilixen, introduces a LOT of fun and interesting characters, and opens an arc about a group of refugees struggling to know who to trust… their governing body doesn’t seem to have their best interests at heart, those who gave them the land seem to look down on them while denying them help, a planet that has resolved its own risks of civil war in the past may be on the verge of a new variation on that old theme, only this civil war may be between natives and aliens making a home on their world, unless cooler minds can prevail. I was gifted with a copy of this book and chose to share my review.

The Qurilixen story continues with the stories of the children of the original princes’s of the Var and Draig. Thirty years earlier the Draig and Var, due to their generous nature, allowed a temporary settlement to be set up on Quilixen of survivors of a deadly virus that almost wiped out their planet. Unfortunately the settlement is under the control of the Federation. Shelter City is basically a huge slum and the shifters are not allowed to interfere. But things have gotten so bad that it is starting to spill over into the Var and Draig lands. But no one wants to start a war with the Federation, because failure is a given. Grier is the future king of the Draig. Salena is a prisoner of the Federation that has managed to escape and hide near the Draig Palace. When they meet and Grier’s chrystal lights up he knows she is his future queen. She doesn’t want to leave Grier but she knows if the Federation finds out he is hiding her and they don’t surrender her it will start a war. Will they have to give up their happiness for the good of all the shifters? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the first book in the Qurilixen World that I have read, and I thought that it was very entertaining. The shifters, whether related or not, had a good rapport with each other, and their antics made me laugh. The author managed to give the reader a good sense of each character’s personality just by their verbal interactions, and even with all of their different quirks, I loved them all. Grier was so sweet that I couldn’t help but fall for him, and Salena made the perfect mate for him. As for Grace, Jaxx, Payton, Roderick, and the others, I can’t wait to read their stories.

I fell in love with the dragon shifters & haven’t gotten to read any about the cat shifters from this planet, but after reading this book, I’m getting ready to start. I love how we continue to keep learning about the 2 groups of shifter families & how they are growing & making their home better for everyone. Received free book from Booksprout.
  • Pleasant Surprise

This is one of the first books I've read by Michelle Pillow, and it was a very pleasant surprise! I don't mind sex scenes, but when you see a sexy guy on the cover, I wonder if there will be a good story to go along with the more intimate scenes. The book was so highly rated that I took a chance and ended up enjoying it. It's a good, tense story, wondering how Grier and Salena will find a way to be together, the supporting cast (like Payton!) are well done and add to the story, and there is a satisfying ending to the story arc with a good tease (I wouldn't call it a cliff hanger) into the next book of the series. If you like fantasy with fated mates and good world building, you'll like this story!

I love the dragon lord series so I was excited to read this book. I love Grier and Salena’s story. I enjoyed the breeding ceremony again and enjoyed the way it played out in this story. The world has changed and that has made for an action packed book that I couldn’t put down. I look forward to reading the next book! I love reading about the next generation. Grier is half Draig and half human as his mother came to Qurilixen as a Galaxy Bride, but he is all Draig, growly and protective. By a twist of fate Grier finds a mate from another planet and Selena has a very interesting power. While our intrepid couple fight their attraction and find a way to get the Federation off Qurilixen, we are introduced to cousins and Var contemporaries to liven the tale. It appears danger is lurking around every corner for Selena. Can she and Grier find an HEA, maybe in the future. This story is witty, has plenty of action, and sweet hot romance. Great read.
  • Better than Sci-if!

I was reluctant to read this series, cause I am not a Sci-fi fan, but this was way better than expected. It’s a bit of paranormal with shifters, in a sci-fi world. I really enjoyed this series. Lots of action. No spoilers from me! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
  • Amazing way to begin the next series

One of my favorite authors. If you enjoyed the Var and Dragon men then you will really enjoy hearing about their children. It was wonderful! I can’t wait for more in this series! I am never disappointed. I recommend reading the books in order. The dragon lords first then the var lords and so forth.
