Description
From Brandon Sanderson—author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive and its fourth massive installment, Rhythm of War—comes a new hefty novella, Dawnshard. Taking place between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War, this tale (like Edgedancer before it) gives often-overshadowed characters their own chance to shine.
When a ghost ship is discovered, its crew presumed dead after trying to reach the storm-shrouded island Akinah, Navani Kholin must send an expedition to make sure the island hasn't fallen into enemy hands. Knights Radiant who fly too near find their Stormlight suddenly drained, so the voyage must be by sea.
Shipowner Rysn Ftori lost the use of her legs but gained the companionship of Chiri-Chiri, a Stormlight-ingesting winged larkin, a species once thought extinct. Now Rysn's pet is ill, and any hope for Chiri-Chiri’s recovery can be found only at the ancestral home of the larkin: Akinah. With the help of Lopen, the formerly one-armed Windrunner, Rysn must accept Navani's quest and sail into the perilous storm from which no one has returned alive. If the crew cannot uncover the secrets of the hidden island city before the wrath of its ancient guardians falls upon them, the fate of Roshar and the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

3By TigersJC86I’m not sure either of these novellas are necessary to the overall plot of Stormlight. I liked this one more than Edgedancer but I’m not sure I needed it.Simply fantastic.
5By 4dartistThis is a really fun read. Feels like a continuation of the last book. The Lopen is as good as ever.Must Read
5By JWhite09The intrigue of a previous foreshadow is answered and there is still plenty to unfold. Just as well done by Sanderson as the larger Archive books.Excellent!
5By TheGreatUnoWhat a great read! Now off to Rhythm of War!!The Lopen
5By QdanqI just really like the Lopen, I’m glad he was a main character and got his due.Loved It!
5By JeflloThis was a nice quick fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Lopen is one of my favorite side characters, and it was great getting him for an entire book. I loved the clues and teased bits of info we got for the Aimians. I read Rhythm of War right after, and was doubly amazed by the consistent quality. Great Job Dragonsteel team!Very good!!!
5By Iam_MiccoLoved the story, the characters and the wider complication of the story.Genius
5By XJakleXThe way Brandon continues to weave the Cosmer is mind blowing. I think I’m going to go read Warbraker for the 3rd time. There’s always another secretRiveting
5By LiffrhnvA short but well developed story, important to the larger story of the series, but well contained into a short story that stands on its own.Wonderful
