Description
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson: his debut novel for the young adult audience
More than anything, Joel wants to be a Rithmatist. Chosen by the Master in a mysterious inception ceremony, Rithmatists have the power to infuse life into two-dimensional figures known as Chalklings. Rithmatists are humanity's only defense against the Wild Chalklings—merciless creatures that leave mangled corpses in their wake. Having nearly overrun the territory of Nebrask, the Wild Chalklings now threaten all of the American Isles.
As the son of a lowly chalkmaker at Armedius Academy, Joel can only watch as Rithmatist students study the magical art that he would do anything to practice. Then students start disappearing—kidnapped from their rooms at night, leaving trails of blood. Assigned to help the professor who is investigating the crimes, Joel and his friend Melody find themselves on the trail of an unexpected discovery—one that will change Rithmatics—and their world—forever.
Bestselling author Brandon Sanderson brings his unique brand of epic storytelling to the teen audience with an engrossing tale of danger and suspense—the first of a series. With his trademark skills in world-building, Sanderson has created a magic system that is so inventive and detailed that that readers who appreciate games of strategy and tactics just may want to bring Rithmatics to life in our world.

2By GahhhhffsI never in my life thought I’d give a Brandon Sanderson book a low review. Was this written for children? Because if so, it went simple in the worst ways. It doesn’t even feel like it was written by him. It feels like he just slapped his name on it. I just... there’s a lot off about this title and I don’t like it at all. I’m still rating it higher than some but sheesh.Awesome
5By RyryqwI am looking forward to the hopeful sequel to this great book! Brandon Sanderson has once ahead gone and broken down the gates of originality and put his ideas in power. An incredible read.Entertaining

5By SulgamingI loved this book when I read it but at the end of the book it said to be continued. I was wondering when that would come out.One of the best
5By Man of the BibleI honestly read the hard-cover book, but I still want to make a review. I have a very specific type of books that I enjoy, and Brandon Sanderson meet every requirement I would ever have. Books that are fantasy, adventurous, mysterious, and , most of all, magical. Thumbs up to The Rithmatist. It is a true five-star book. I am eagerly waiting for Sanderson's next masterpiece.Amazing book, Sanderson has done it again!
5By Baddddddddddddd whyThis is truly a high quality fantasy book, if you're looking for something with a darker spooky like tone but will cause you to keep flipping the virtual pages. The book doesn't have explicit words or scenes which is a plus for younger readers who are intrigued about Joel's world of rithmatists and chalklings that might pinch of your skin and rip out your eyes without second thought. Over all a great page turner novel can't wait for the second book.Tip of the iceberg
5By jymalphaThe writing in this solid first story not only presents the rich expanse of the world and characters in it, but leaves the reader with the almost aching desire to see where the next book will take you. What is the hidden history of this world? Will our two young protagonists meet their mysterious potential? What is left to be discovered about Rithmatics? Have we only caught a glimpse of the sinister plots and politics? This Potter-esque pattern promises to be an intriguing series!
