Description

The scars that cut deepest are the ones beneath the surface…

Detective Addison Hale is a survivor. The armor she uses to hide her scars keeps her safe on the job, and holding people at arm’s length is a small price to pay when there’s a stalker on the loose.
Especially since he’s after the sister of impulsive firefighter Ryan Dempsey, who she had a scorching-hot fling with two months ago.

The fling she can’t forget, even though she knows how dangerous it is to get close. To feel.

Ryan will do anything to keep his sister safe, even if it means he has to play by Addison’s rules. But when the stalker sets his sights on the smart, sexy detective, Ryan finds he’ll do anything for her, including risk his life to fight at her side.

But this enemy is as cunning as he is deadly and he’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Addison and Ryan must outrun the shadows and outwit a killer.

No matter the cost.

  • Another Incredible Kimberly Kincaid Love Story

I absolutely loved The Rogue by Kimberly Kincaid the fourth book in her Intelligence Unit series. Kimberly Kincaid has once again delivered another incredible romantic thriller that kept me guessing how there were catch the devious villain who was behind the illegal activities. I loved every moment on every page of The Rogue and could not put it down. I love how the title of the book is incorporated into the story. I really enjoy how the book is told from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. I also enjoy that Kimberly Kincaid has included characters from her other series in the Intelligence Unit series. It was nice catching up with the other characters that I have grown attached to. It is like a family reunion. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, and loving friends who always support one another, they are all such wonderful characters? I love how Kimberly Kincaid somehow, manages to find the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong woman on her own, to balance out the sexy detective. Once again Kimberly Kincaid has shown that she is an incredible storyteller who continues to deliver sizzling romantic thrillers. Who does not love a second chance at love and a single dad love story? The Rogue is the heartwarming and heartbreaking tale of Ryan Dempsey, a firefighter at Station Seventeen, and Addison Hale, a detective in the Intelligence Unit. Ryan and Addison spent a night together following the holiday party and have not gotten together since. Addison responds to a stalking call for Chloe Ferguson. When she arrives at Chloe’s apartment, Ryan opens the door. Chloe and Ryan share the same adoptive parents. Chloe reported that Myles Bishop has been following her, and that night he sneered at her from across the street, which frightened Chloe. Addison investigates the stalking claim but cannot build a case and cannot get a protection from abuse order either. While working together to keep Chloe safe Ryan and Addison spend more time with one another, and their relationship quickly changes. Both Addison and Dempsey share secrets with each other that they have not shared before. I love all the things that Ryan and Addison do to keep Chloe safe and how this mirrors Addison’s own life. Addison continues to work the case, investigating Myles Bishop and trying to discover his identity. Addison knows that she needs incriminating proof against Myles to be able to bring charges against him or a permanent PFA, their plan backfires and Ryan’s life is in jeopardy. I love all the plot twists in the story, especially the unexpected one that puts Ryan’s life on the line. I love how the case gets resolved, and how both Addison and Ryan admit their feelings for each other. My favorite part was the epilogue, I love how Kimberly sets us her next story involving Liam Hollister and Carmen Desoto. The Rogue is filled with the sizzling romance, poignant and bittersweet moments as well as the surprise plot twists, that I have come to love and expect in Kimberly Kincaid's stories. The Rogue truly is a page turner, kept me guessing how Addison Hale was going to solve the stalking case against Myles Bishop. I love the cast of characters in The Rogue and catching up with the other characters in the series. It feels like a reunion among friends. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. It was an amazing story and I highly recommend it.

Whew. This book. It grabbed me and did not let go. The tension ramped up and just held me there suspended on the edge of my seat until the very end. It was the perfect balance between the ramping up of the suspense of the stalking, the gradual deepening of the relationship between Ryan and Addison, and the twisted viewpoint of the bad guy. It was delicious perfection. Addison is a detective in the elite Intelligence Unit. She is joyful and positive but does not do relationships because of her past. Ryan is a firefighter in the station close to Addison’s precinct. He is has strong family relationships and is a bit impulsive. Ryan and Addison are friends and they had a one night stand two months ago with little interaction since then. Ryan calls the Intelligence Unit when his sister is being stalked by a customer who frequents the coffee shop where she works. As a result, the journey toward Ryan and Addison’s HEA continues after the brief hiatus following the one night stand. It’s an exciting, roller coaster dangerous ride where they are trying to deal with a wily and dangerous stalker while also dealing with their own issues and fears in their growing relationship. This book has a little bit of everything you’d expect from romantic suspense - sweet moments, fan your face steam, dangerous action, strong friendships, painful pasts, mystery, evil actors, plot twists, imperfect characters, and even a few chuckles. The story was well written, the characters had depth and growth, and the storyline was engaging. I love this series. I willingly reviewed an early copy of this book.

Kimberly Kincaid is an absolute master of romantic suspense. The Rogue is the fourth in her Intelligence Unit series, which shares the same universe as Station Seventeen and Remington Medical. Addison Hale and Ryan Dempsey are friends, and Addison doesn’t do any entanglements, so when she agrees to indulge them in one night, she absolutely means that. But when Ryan’s sister Chloe is threatened by an insistent “suitor”, Addison doesn’t hesitate to step in and do her job. Kimberly Kincaid perfectly balances Ryan and Addison’s growing connection with the amping tension of Chloe’s stalker. The procedural elements are sharp and well written, and all work in concert to keep readers’ hearts pounding and their pages turning. I rarely read suspense now but I will always read Ms Kincaid’s. The Rogue is exactly why.
