Description

When Caroline Trent is kidnapped by Blake Ravenscroft, she doesn't even try to elude this dangerously handsome agent of the crown. After all, she's been running from unwanted marriage proposals. Yes, Blake believes she's a notorious spy named Carlotta De Leon, but for six weeks until her twenty-first birthday, when she'll gain control of her fortune, hiding out in the titillating company of a mysterious captor is awfully convenient -- and maybe just a little romantic, too.

Blake Ravenscroft's mission is to bring "Carlotta" to justice, not to fall in love. His heart has been hardened by years of intrigue, but this little temptress proves oddly disarming and thoroughly kissable. And suddenly the unthinkable becomes possible -- that this mismatched Couple might be destined for love.

This was a fun read and much better then the description made it out to be. Julia Quinn is an excellent author and this is one of her better early books.

As the other reviews state, this is one the best books by Quinn. Great character development and laugh out loud moments. Enjoyed this one immensely that I couldn’t put it down. They need to make this one into a series, heartfelt and entertaining.

I adored this book and am so surprised not to see it on more must-read lists. It’s not even available as an audiobook! This is a gem. I laughed out loud several times. The follow-up book is worth a read as well. If you’ve finished all the Bridgertons, read this.

I love all of Julian Quinn’s books but this one is my favorite. I love a story that makes you laugh when you read it and your heart ache as well. The cook and butler were just fabulous and the plot kept you reading more. I usually don’t write reviews but this book has to be at the top of my reading list. And by the way, I have most of Ms. Julia Quinn’s historical romance books and recommend them all!
