Description
“A lusty, rollicking seventeenth-century adventure. . . . History as entertainment.” —USA Today
In this New York Times bestselling novel, master of suspense Michael Crichton delivers an irresistible tale of swashbuckling pirates in the New World—a classic story of treasure and betrayal.
The Caribbean, 1665. A remote colony of the English Crown, the island of Jamaica holds out against the vast supremacy of the Spanish empire. Port Royal, its capital, is a cutthroat town of taverns, grog shops, and bawdy houses. In this steamy climate there’s a living to be made, a living that can end swiftly by disease—or by dagger. For Captain Charles Hunter, gold in Spanish hands is gold for the taking, and the law of the land rests with those ruthless enough to make it.
Pirate Latitudes is Michael Crichton at his best: a brilliant adventure tale pulsing with relentless action, crackling atmosphere, and heart-pounding suspense.

1By Mike, Plymouth MITo much of the book feels like an outline of ideas with intentions to expand on in a later revision. I still enjoyed it.So great!

5By Mica2005Excellent read. You are captured by the story almost instantly, drawn in by the adventurous characters that joyfully stir your imagination. If you are at all a fan of the expeditions of Captain Jack Sparrow then you will enjoy this book.Great story
5By kingdamodmvLove the book. Have been a fan of Crichton since Jurassic Park and his stories still capture my imagination. Not Great
2By Church42Much too short and something I don't think Michael Crichton would've had published. There just doesn't seem to be much transitioning between events in the book. The book almost seems geared to teenagers if you take out some of the adult events. Save your money and let this ship sail.Good
4By 4orkGreat book but needed the lacking final touches only the author himself could have doneFun read
5By EngstaThis was just a fun book to read. I haven't found a book from him I didn't like.Pirate Latitudes
5By Joey WilkersonAmazing!!!Pirate Latitudes
5By 2ndBruceClean prose. Straightforward dialogue. Exciting plot and engaging characters. Should have been a much longer book. A lot packed into a short read. Wanted more.Good Pirate Tale!
4By The3scap1stThis is an exciting, well-researched pirate story. It strains credibility but that's not the point - it's just a fun read. It tells the story of a pirate raid in the Caribbean in the 17th Century. Everything that can go wrong does. Captain Hunter is repeatedly placed in unescapable situations...and then he escapes from them! I suspect Crichton never published it because of similarities with Pirates of the Caribbean.Really Great
5By MurjimI believe this was published posthumously. It's sad to think there won't be any more from this great author. Who else puts so much energy into the technology behind the story? I'm re-reading Timeline now and it's better this time than it was the first time.Very fun read!
5By quickthymeIf you like pirate adventure stories and/or other books by MC, then you will enjoy this novel.Pirate Latitudes
