Very well written but just a little too much science and biology. Loved the characters.

While I get why they probably didn’t adapt THIS version of the story for the movie , I was left wondering what this story would’ve been like on screen !! Starts off slower than the last book but you’ll be engrossed and blasting through those chapters once Dino’s are involved! Also you’d think Malcom had enough of chaotic Dino islands after the last book , but his monologues are always welcome.
  • The book I’ve always wanted.

I loved the first book but sequels usually aren’t as good as the original but this book proved that wrong this book was exiting like the first one (the movie for this book isn’t as good as the Jurassic park movie)
  • I love Ian Malcom in the movie series

Like most sequels this book isn’t as good as the first. My main problem was that a lot of the character actions, settings and expositions were confusing and hard to grasp. There were plenty of times I struggled to understand where one or more of the characters was located and what they were doing when the dinosaurs begun to attack. It’s not hard to follow though, you usually end up extrapolating the information as you continue to read. For me the best aspect of this book was that it gave Crichton a platform to wax intellectual about several different academic subjects through the dialogue. Things like chaos theory, animal behavior, evolution, genetics, etc. Ian Malcolm’s rants were some of my favorite passages.

More dinosaurs and more characters. Lewis Dodgsona death in the rex nest was so scary and awesome. The disease that’s killing the dinosaurs is very exciting and very intense. But the books are my favorite books . Crichton will always be my idol .

‘Jurassic Park’ was no doubt amazing, but ‘The Lost World’ steps up Crichton’s dinosaur world with more action, a darker tone, more of his idiosyncratically compelling characters, and an intriguing new story that forces the reader to want to find out what happens next and how the story resolves. I recommend it for anyone ( even those who don’t read much ) that love fascinating and exciting stories, and of course for anyone who loves Michael Crichton, or loved ‘Jurassic Park’. Way better than the movie.

If you just read Jurassic Park, you owe it to yourself to read The Lost World as well. It's an apt companion to its predecessor, and is head and shoulders above the movie version. The weakest part of the book is the incredibly incredible storyline. Crichton recycles some thematic elements almost like a crutch, I mean it's pretty noticeable. All that aside though, it's a good book. Definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'm happy he wrote this sequel to JP and glad I decided to pick it up, even 20 years after its publishing. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
