Description
From Liane Moriarty, author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Big Little Lies and Truly Madly Guilty, comes an unforgettable novel defined by her signature sharp wit, page-turning storyline, and lovable and eccentric characters.
Sophie Honeywell always wondered if Thomas Gordon was the one who got away. He was the perfect boyfriend, but on the day he was going to propose, she broke his heart. A year later he married his travel agent, while Sophie has been mortifyingly single ever since. Now Thomas is back in her life because Sophie has unexpectedly inherited his aunt Connie's house on Scribbly Gum Island—home of the famously unsolved Munro Baby mystery.
Sophie moves onto the island and begins a new life as part of an unconventional family, where it seems everyone has a secret. Grace, a beautiful young mother, is feverishly planning a shocking escape from her perfect life. Margie, a frumpy housewife, has made a pact with a stranger, while dreamy Aunt Rose wonders if maybe it's about time she started making her own decisions.
As Sophie's life becomes increasingly complicated, she discovers that sometimes you have to stop waiting around—and come up with your own fairy-tale ending.

Island Mystery kept secret by family for 70+ years
5By KAEcambScribbly Gum Island in New South Wales, Australia is home to the Munro baby who was abandoned years ago. Her parents, Frank and Alice Munro disappeared. Two teenaged sisters take the child in and raise her as their own. The Island becomes a destination to see the Munro house and hear details about the mysterious night that the baby was found alone, a kettle on to boil and a marble cake just out of the oven. Now things are changing and the four generations still connected to the island may be ready to share the full story. The story centers on Sophie who is the ex-fiancé of a grandson. Her life intertwines with many in the extended family and she moves to the island. Will she be the catalyst to a new openness in the family? I enjoyed learning about the characters in the family. There are enough hints to keep you interested in solving the mystery, but I did not predict the real story before it was revealed. A fun read!Don’t bother!
1By Jaden321I waited expectantly for a reveal on the “mystery” going back 73 years, only to discover the ridiculous truth. What follows for every character was just as dumb and not even a little believable or relatable! Started out liking where it was going, finished feeling so let down! Can’t do it
1By MayurajkumarIt kills me to pay for a book and not read it. I’ve tried getting thru this book for days and it’s just sooooo boring. I’m waiting for something to happen - anything - to keep me reading and I just can’t. I’m abandoning it about 1/4 way thru! One of my favorites from LM

5By DevinthegirlI’m a big fan of Moriarty! She has always been talented, this is only her second of her nine novels. Her earlier works are a bit more light hearted and less dramatic than her later ones. There are family dynamics to untangle, a great big mystery, and very dark (exciting!) topics throughout, but not quite as dark and shocking as her more recent works. I’ve never been a person to devour a book, usually enjoy it over a few months, but his was my fastest read in just about 10 days (and I was working 6 back to back 12 hour shifts and got no reading done at work). If you’re looking for a dynamic, fun mystery to burn through quickly, this is your book! If you want something a bit more bold and surprising try The Husband’s Secret, Big Little Lies, or Truly Marly Guilty (the first books to make me cry while flipping pages frantically as I could see it playing out in devastating slow motion before my eyes!) I suspect 9 Perfect Strangers will be her best yet!
