Description

Joe Hill's critically acclaimed, New York Times bestselling, Bram Stoker Award-winning debut chiller, Heart-Shaped Box, heralded the arrival of new royalty onto the dark fantasy scene. With Horns, he polishes his well-deserved crown. A twisted, terrifying new novel of psychological and supernatural suspense, Horns is a devilishly original triumph for the Ray Bradbury Fellowship recipient whose story collection, 20th Century Ghosts, was also honored with a Bram Stoker Award—and whose emotionally powerful and macabre work has been praised by the New York Times as, "wild, mesmerizing, perversely witty…a Valentine from hell."

This story is rather silly and at the same time it’s gruesome. While I love reading Joe Hill, I didn’t enjoy this one.

Great author but you end up hearing almost the same exact story from every character’s perspective, makes it hard to stay interested.

When I try to download the sample I get 20th century ghosts in my library. Is there a fix?

I'm not a big reader. I like books I have a hard time getting more than half way through one that doesn't keep me going. This book, however, is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I can't put it down.
  • Worth the read.

Wish I could find more books like this. This one went a little to dark for me and a little to religious but it's still a good book.
  • Great story!

Over the past few weeks I've read about a dozen books from various 'scary' book lists. While Horns is not necessarily terrifying, it's the only book I've read out of the dozen in which I became completely absorbed. It's loaded with that special brand of suspense that keeps you burning through pages while simultaneously making you almost dread what you might read next. A kind of literary aversion/compulsion. This is the first experience I've had with Joe Hill's writing but it will not be the last. It's nice to find a relatively new author whose upcoming publications are worth serious anticipation.

Well written. Good story. Love, murder, revenge, good & evil. Makes me question the good in evil.

That I have read in a long time. And I read a lot, daily. This book has it all; love, hate, envy, revenge, despair and hope. Plus much, much more. BTW, it is so good that I felt the need to write this review, my first.
  • Garbage...

This book is an absolute piece of garbage. It makes no sense whatsoever and has, without a doubt, the least satisfying resolution of any book I've ever read. I can't begin to tell you what a monumental waste of my time and money this book was. Wow!
  • Fascinating Meditation on Relationship Between Good and Evil

Novel's opening scene in which the main character Ig wakes up and discovers that he's grown horns was enough to pique my interest, and it only gets better from there. Hill has a lot of interesting things to say about the relationship between good and evil/God and Satan, and he portrays these ideas through a love story that's believable and heartfelt without ever becoming sappy. One of the best books I've read in the past several years.

This is my first read from Joe Hill, not counting "Throttle", co-penned with his dad. I Thoroughly enjoyed "Horns" and found it intriguing as well as entertaining. It was delightfully difficult to tell the good guys from the bad guys, and equally heartbreaking. This is a novel written with intelligence. Amidst the havoc and horror, the reader has to pay attention to details.
  • One Hell of a good book.

This book was much better than expected. It is truly an original story and well crafted. Would make a good movie. I look forward to more novels and definitely recommend this book to anyone. Kudos Gabriel
