5By johnsafoxOver the past few weeks I've read about a dozen books from various 'scary' book lists. While Horns is not necessarily terrifying, it's the only book I've read out of the dozen in which I became completely absorbed. It's loaded with that special brand of suspense that keeps you burning through pages while simultaneously making you almost dread what you might read next. A kind of literary aversion/compulsion. This is the first experience I've had with Joe Hill's writing but it will not be the last. It's nice to find a relatively new author whose upcoming publications are worth serious anticipation.Devil in a Blue Dress

5By BradMOBrienNovel's opening scene in which the main character Ig wakes up and discovers that he's grown horns was enough to pique my interest, and it only gets better from there. Hill has a lot of interesting things to say about the relationship between good and evil/God and Satan, and he portrays these ideas through a love story that's believable and heartfelt without ever becoming sappy. One of the best books I've read in the past several years.Can't put it down.

4By Past bedtimeThis is my first read from Joe Hill, not counting "Throttle", co-penned with his dad. I Thoroughly enjoyed "Horns" and found it intriguing as well as entertaining. It was delightfully difficult to tell the good guys from the bad guys, and equally heartbreaking. This is a novel written with intelligence. Amidst the havoc and horror, the reader has to pay attention to details.One Hell of a good book.
