Creepy and scary
4By Jewels570I really enjoyed this. I found it creepy and not sure what was going to happen . Definitely kept me guessing. I just recently started reading again since becoming bedridden and bought this because of all the great reviews. Is my first book from this author and I am anxious to read more from him!Just Okay
3By Crg656The bones of this story are quite good, with an interesting take on the paranormal and hypnosis. However, the characters are hard to enjoy, with details that take away from the story itself, leaving me wishing the author didn’t try to insert “real world” details to flesh out his characters, as it leaves them feeling more like fictional characters than people that can be empathized with. The characters aren’t terrific to begin with, which made this a bit tough to get through, with an ending that wasn’t the most satisfying either.A excellent read u can’t put down!

5By KellyalexI just found out about Joe Hill, and a little disappointed I didn’t know sooner. In heart shaped box Joe writes a believable horror novel, which makes it even scarier. And the dogs… you’ll appreciate his writing even more when you read these parts. Not going to be a spoiler but you will see. Enjoy!Awesome

3By DCTX55While the writing is great and furnishes an effortless reading experience, I just didn’t find the story very interesting. Part of the issue is that there is hardly a likeable character in the story. I’m sure the main characters were meant to grow on me as the story progressed, but it didn’t happen and by the climax I still didn’t really care what happened to them. Characters aside, the main conflict is fairly linear and there are few events that feel surprising or exciting.Great

5By Mbernard3Scariest book I have read in years. I love a book that I can't put down. Cant stop thinking about the characters, and what's going to happen next. This story pulled me in, and never let go. And when it did, I was bummed it was over. It was that good. All his books are. Joe Hill is an extremely talented writer. Definitely blood of his fathers blood. A+++++++Scary. Better than his father.

5By Wchter3This story was creepy and had all the darkness you would expect, what I didn't expect was the sheer sadness throughout this book. It really demonstrates how the suffering of those we deem 'less than' (poor, uneducated class of people in our country by the millions) a girl molested most of her life becomes promisucous and a drug addict as a direct result of what happened to her. Yet she blames herself for her misgivings. I felt for her through this book and I cried several times.Loved it
