Description
In this #1 New York Times bestselling thriller, after taking on a foreclosure case, defense attorney Mickey Haller fights to prove his client’s innocence—but first he must follow a trail of black market evidence to its sinister end. Mickey Haller has fallen on tough times. He expands his business into foreclosure defense, only to see one of his clients accused of killing the banker she blames for trying to take away her home.
Mickey puts his team into high gear to exonerate Lisa Trammel, even though the evidence and his own suspicions tell him his client is guilty. Soon after he learns that the victim had black market dealings of his own, Haller is assaulted, too -- and he's certain he's on the right trail.
Despite the danger and uncertainty, Haller mounts the best defense of his career in a trial where the last surprise comes after the verdict is in. Connelly proves again why he "may very well be the best novelist working in the United States today" (San Francisco Chronicle).

The Fifth Witness
5By pgarzaimagesExcellent Work. Excellent Story. Excellent Execution and Excellent Ending.Least Favorite so far
3By lynnt271This book was good no doubt. However the trial part of the book was a good majority. I can see how other people say it’s drawn out. I think the author spent too long in the courtroom on this novel.Fifth witness

5By sipsey wildernessEverything I ever read by Michael Connelly I’ve enjoyed same here! This is the only book by this Author that i did not enjoy
2By Cathyrn56I disliked the client and the entire foreclosure process. I only kept reading it to see if she was going down .Just good
5By The Big FiveIt’s just a good legal thriller with a neat twist at the end. Held my attention all the way through to the end.Too many holes
2By Amigo73Lots of holes in the plot to make it a good read. At best it was okay. At the base of the book is a woman on trial for murder, but she would have never been arrested and charged with murder within 12 hours of the crime in real life. There was one evidence she was at the crime scene. The evidence was laughable, and in no way realistic. I was constantly reminded that this was a work of fiction, and that is disappointing.Great read

5By ADiamond59Excellent with so many twists and turns! Loved itSometimes the End is the Killer
5By LakewacoGood story. Good Defense Attorney vs. Prosecutor Attorney front and back play. Plus the Judge wasn’t bad either. Murder always deserves being defended to the end. Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose and maybe win again at a later time.
