Description
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Women comes an incandescent story about the resilience of the human spirit, the triumph of hope, and the meaning of home.
In the rugged Pacific Northwest lies the Olympic National Forest—nearly a million acres of impenetrable darkness and impossible beauty. From deep within this old growth forest, a six-year-old girl appears. Speechless and alone, she offers no clue as to her identity, no hint of her past.
Having retreated to her western Washington hometown after a scandal left her career in ruins, child psychiatrist Dr. Julia Cates is determined to free the extraordinary little girl she calls Alice from a prison of unimaginable fear and isolation. To reach her, Julia must discover the truth about Alice’s past—although doing so requires help from Julia’s estranged sister, a local police officer. The shocking facts of Alice’s life test the limits of Julia’s faith and strength, even as she struggles to make a home for Alice—and for herself.
“One of [Kristin Hannah’s] most compelling and riveting novels.”—Booklist

All the feels…
5By Ellie the AussieWhat an emotional roller coaster! I became attached to the characters immediately. Laughing, cheering, and crying with them. This brought me out of a book funk I’d been in for a while, and reminded me there are still heartfelt, engaging stories to be read.Mislabeled
3By PearlHazelIf BookBub had labeled this book correctly I would have passed it by because it’s not a genre I would ever choose to read. Can’t even say Chick Lit because it’s not literature, it’s a romance novel and I felt duped. This was my first and last book by this author.Could not stop reading!!!!
5By Gigi0424Beautiful, thrilling, sad, happy! This one keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what will happen to each of the characters in this book especially little Alice!!!Love it.
5By soccerr faamily timeSimply amazing, a tear jerker that captured me from the beginning.Magic Hour
5By mrep65This is such a wonderful book. It has everything.Cute story. Juvenile writing.
2By LadyLibertéThe story was nice, albeit a bit cheesy, but the writing was juvenile. It felt like a YA novel meets a Hallmark movie. This is my first read of Kristin Hannah’s, and others have praised The Nightingale, so I still think I’ll give that one a shot. Magic Hour does appear to be one of her earlier works, so hopefully her writing style evolved.Simply remarkable
5By kassnelsI can’t even describe how this book made me feel. Kristin Hannah is a genius in her ability to paint the characters in such a way that you have no choice but to invest all of your emotion in their stories. I couldn’t put this book down and I just finished it bawling as I usually do with each of her books. Well done Kristin Hannah.Magic Hour

5By rocky tecjycIntriguing a story a mother and woman can love. No you don’t have to have maternal blood, but being a mother doesn’t take blood. Truly a loving persons book, and a sisterly bond with family secrets each daughter holds dear.Incredible!
5By Mrsnoah73I’ve never been disappointed by Kristin Hannah’s writing, but this was one of the best books I’ve ever read. We can talk plot and characterization, and yet the it’s the realness of people facing both the incredible and the ordinary challenges that keep me totally immersed in it.A story of unimaginable resilience
