Description

An arranged marriage leads to passionate love in this classic Scottish historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice is Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison—a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec aches to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie has vowed never to surrender to a man she considers a highland barbarian.

Alec is everything Jamie’s heart has warned her against—an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks speak of savage pleasures. While Kincaid’s scorching kisses set fire to her blood, she is determined to resist him...until one rapturous moment quells their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatens to conquer her senses...

Includes an excerpt of another beloved Julie Garwood highland romance, The Wedding

This is the book that got me into romance novels. Love it!
  • Alec was great… Jamie not so much.

Well written mostly and the love story was sweet between Alec and Jamie. Lots of passion, lots of heart melting moments especially from Alec who was a hard Scottish warrior. However, I didn’t really like Jamie… her supposed stubbornness and constant questioning of Alec (and bickering) was annoying. Literally anything he told her to do, she argued. The author tried to make it seem like her “courageous spirit” made Alec love her more, but I was annoyed for him. She was also what they call “a pick me girl” constantly trying to show off. Annoying. Another thing I didn’t enjoy was the long drawn out conversations that were all basically the same. Jamie trying to get compliments from Alec. Mainly, I enjoyed Alec and his clan though. They were funny.

Charming, amusing, silly, romantic, steamy, ridiculous and utterly inappropriate for our modern times… everything a historical romance ought to be👌🏾💕

The Bride has the perfect mix of serious and laugh-out-loud funny moments worked into a successful blend of romance, action and adventure. It is the perfect escape into an intriguing time, while being approachable for the modern reader. The writing is clear and witty and moves the reader through the story at a desirable pace.

The only thing disappointing about this book was when it ended. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Way too long. Needed to be cut by 100 pages. But it was such a fun story. I really appreciate that we see the two characters truly develop a relationship. I really enjoyed the personalities but the odd switching of perspectives was difficult to keep up with. You just need to be alert. This novel is one reason why I love romance novels so much. It won't disappoint.
