Description
“This could be the worthy Lord John Grey’s breakout novel, as readers are treated to large dollops of Outlander hero Jamie Fraser.”—Booklist
A captivating return to the world Diana Gabaldon created in her Outlander and Lord John series, The Scottish Prisoner is a masterpiece of epic history, wicked deceit, and scores that can only be settled in blood.
London, 1760. For Jamie Fraser, paroled prisoner-of-war, life is coming apart at the seams. In the remote Lake District, where he’s close enough to the son he cannot claim as his own, Jamie’s quiet existence is interrupted first by dreams of his lost wife, then by the appearance of an erstwhile comrade still fighting to rally the Irish. But Jamie has sworn off politics, fighting, and war. Until Lord John Grey shows up with a summons that will take him away from everything he loves—again. Lord John is in possession of explosive documents that expose a damning case of corruption against a British officer. But they also hint at a more insidious danger. Soon Lord John and Jamie are unwilling companions on the road to Ireland, a country whose dark castles hold dreadful secrets, and whose bogs hide the bones of the dead.
Praise for The Scottish Prisoner
“Call it what you will—historical adventure, conspiracy thriller—it’s an engrossing story, masterfully paced, with exciting plot twists, swift reversals, and robust characterizations.”—The Globe and Mail
“As always, Gabaldon goes above and beyond. . . . If you love historical fiction, this book could be a good entrance point into the Outlander world.”—Bookreporter

The Scottish prisoner
5By Dixie Doodle 🐶It’s absolutely awesome when I start one of Diana‘s books I can’t put them down. I am completely swept away in the way she writes and in the characters. I feel as though I am in the story itself seeing everything as she describes it feeling the emotions the waves of the boat the smells of the people in the bars the sounds of the horses. I feel like I’m living in the story itself. I love the outlander series and all of the Novelas that go with it.The fact a

5By CDugoJamie Fraser is one of the best characters in the Outlander series. This novel takes place in 1760, 14 years after losing Claire. He is now on parole working in the stables of a friend of Lord John Grey. Lord Grey has a mysterious poem and information regarding a plot to overthrow King George II. There are accusations regarding a noble now in Ireland. Lord Grey and his brother enlist the help of Jamie in bringing the nobleman back to England and justice. There are twists and turns in the plot and the plot is woven into a history of the 18th century society. If you like Outlander, this is a similar pleasure. The Scottish Prisoner

5By Lrn2rdLoved it! I'm an avid Diana G. Fan. Loved reading some of the detail of certain events mentioned in the Outland series that was not clarified lest there be too much detour from that story. This was a refreshing detour after the fact. I'm still completely in love with Jamie, even more so than Sir John is.A great gap filler
4By RaymReyI really enjoyed the book. I thought it did a lot to fill in gaps in the story line regarding Jamie's relationship to Lord John and William. An enjoyable and relatively quick read. I highly recommend if you like the Lord John books, because that's what this is, regardless of the title.Idiots who wrote Bad Reviews, READ! GREAT BOOK!!!
5By pigletsmumPeople! This is a Lord John Grey book! Read the description!!! It's not a Jamie and Claire book! OMG! Obviously you people who are writing the bad reviews aren't die hard fans. The Lord John Grey books are another series that she has written. Get with the program! If you did read the John Grey series, you would find they are great books too, on their own merit. This is a great book!!!!! This is a great series!!!Another Great Book by Diana!
