“Koontz gives [Odd Thomas] wit, good humor, a familiarity with the dark side of humanity—and moral outrage.”—USA Today

Once presided over by a Roaring ’20s Hollywood mogul, the magnificent West Coast estate known as Roseland now harbors a reclusive billionaire financier and his faithful servants—and their guests: Odd Thomas, the young fry cook who sees the dead and tries to help them, and Annamaria, his inscrutably charming traveling companion. Fresh from a harrowing clash with lethal adversaries, they welcome their host’s hospitality. But Odd’s extraordinary eye for the uncanny detects disturbing secrets that could make Roseland more hell than haven.

Soon enough the house serves up a taste of its terrors, as Odd begins to unravel the darkest mystery of his curious career. What consequences await those who confront evil at its most profound? Odd only knows.

“Supernatural thrills with a side of laughs.”—The Denver Post

This book left me always wondering what was happening, what was going to happen, and how was he going to get out of the fix he was in. Always on the edge of seat.

A great continuation of a wonderful series. As all the previous books, it's new and interesting all the way through.

I have read and enjoyed every book Dean K has written. This one is such a powerhouse of an emotional roller coaster for the enduring Odd Thomas. I love this character so much. I can't wait to know what happens with Annmarie and to find out who she is!!!

Another great story about a man called oddie. This book was great to read, my second full iBook. The story was full of everything your would expect from Koontz. Can't wait for the next one. And when is that movie coming out - (expletive)!

Disappointing! Never thought I'd say that about a Dean Koontz novel. Too much detail about the mansion and the strange, complex machinery in it and too little happening in the story. The story itself seemed too contrived and far out. A high price paid for a poor read. Wish I had my $ back!

Dean koontz never disappoints! I've been reading his books since 1986 and his writing is as visual as ever! I always remember his characters as if I've watched the movie( kind of confusing) and I love that he loves his dogs!!

Great story! Each new story brings in new ideas and incredible things with which Odd Thomas must deal, but the central ethos remains pure. I highly recommend this series.

Had zero issues of skipped, repeating or missing text with this book but before I began reading I changed the font size and type. I've noticed with other books with missing lines/text cut in half, changing the font always fixed the issues.

I really want to see Chris Snow and friends meet Odd Thomas. Frankenstein and Slim McKenzie meeting up with Odd would be so interesting!
  • Surprisingly boring!

Usually like these books for a quick read but this one was slow moving. Odd is not as interesting as he used to be in this book and it seemed the story rambled on too long before the predictable ending. Hopefully a good Stephen King book will come out again soon to make me forget about the waste of time I had struggling to finish it. Ho Hum.

The story was good, but it read extremely slow, almost like the author was trying to just fill the pages. Very little actually happened, but a lot of pages to get there. Normally the story just flows, but not, disappointingly, this time. Overall I liked the book, just expected more.

All I can say is I'm glad I got it at the library and didn't waste my money. Was very dissapointed in the book and Mr. Koontz for rambling about details instead of taking us into the story and keeping us on the edge.
