Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

The pistol appeared in his hand the way a dove appears in the hand of a good magician, as if it materialized out of thin air. “You think I won’t do it right here in the open. But you’d be surprised. . . . You’ll drop before you get the breath to scream.”

The truck driver is decked out like a rhinestone cowboy, only instead of a guitar he’s slinging a gun—and Odd Thomas is on the wrong end of the barrel. Though he narrowly dodges a bullet, Odd can’t outrun the shocking vision burned into his mind . . . or the destiny that will drive him into a harrowing showdown with absolute evil.

DEEPLY ODD

How do you make sure a crime that hasn’t happened yet, never does? That’s the critical question facing Odd Thomas, the young man with a unique ability to commune with restless spirits and help them find justice and peace. But this time, it’s the living who desperately need Odd on their side. Three helpless innocents will be brutally executed unless Odd can intervene in time. Who the potential victims are and where they can be found remain a mystery. The only thing Odd knows for sure is who the killer will be: the homicidal stranger who tried to shoot him dead in a small-town parking lot.

With the ghost of Alfred Hitchcock riding shotgun and a network of unlikely allies providing help along the way, Odd embarks on an interstate game of cat and mouse with his sinister quarry. He will soon learn that his adversary possesses abilities that may surpass his own and operates in service to infinitely more formidable foes, with murder a mere prelude to much deeper designs. Traveling across a landscape haunted by portents of impending catastrophe, Odd will do what he must and go where his path leads him, drawing ever closer to the dark heart of his long journey—and, perhaps, to the bright light beyond.

“[A] popular series . . . Koontz asks real questions about the nature of good and evil.”—The New York Times Book Review

“Odd evokes the homespun wisdom of Forrest Gump amid the mind-spinning adventures of a Jack Bauer. . . . The ultimate Everyman . . . an avatar of hope and honor and courage for all of us—the linchpin of a rollicking good tale.”—BookPage

“There’s never anything predictable about an Odd Thomas adventure. Another satisfying entry in this wildly popular series. It’s Koontz, and it’s Odd. Class dismissed.”Booklist

  • A page-turner

Gripping and compelling, yet too many lines wasted on mundane explanations and meanderings that already exist in all the previous Odd books. Too many teases to mysteries that are never answered or explained. A lot of things happening where you don’t really know what’s happening.

Another great story, however. I felt that the excitement that is normally found in an Odd Thomas story was lacking in this book. The book seemed rushed and left the reader with more questions than answers. I hope Dean is able to slow down and provide us with another well written book soon.

First he scares me to death then he gives me hope. The reason why I bought the book, so I could re read them when I need that hopeful insight.

Odd Interlude, was the 1st of the series I read. Picked it up at a local store near summers end of 2013. I had to start with "Odd Thomas" and I just finished "Deeply Odd". Can't wait to see the movie.

Awesome ending.Makes one consider their place in this world as it # goes "to hell in a hand basket" something Mrs. Edie Fisher from this book would say!

I was a little disappointed with this book, it was hard getting into it and then the end was fabulous!!!! I'm excited Odd didn't die for potential more books in the series. Since I thought the memoirs off Odd would only be published if he was no longer with us :)

In these later Odd Thomas novels it is sometimes hard to appreciate Odd because of all the worthless and insipid yammering that goes on in his head. The bored reader then must skip past sections of silly internal dialogue to get back to the action and the main points of the story. Overall, this one is for teenyboppers.
  • Another great story

Great pace, wonderful characters and sometimes biting insight. I'm hoping another comes out!
  • Another typically L-O-N-G drawn-out good Koontz novel

One thing for sure, Mr. Koontz doesn't deviate from his tried-and- true formula. A formulaic, exhaustive Odd novel that I couldn't put down until the last page, and I'll do it again!

Was reluctant to read this one because I didn't care for Odd Apocalypse but really glad I did. Loved the characters. Koontz' humorous characters just get better and better. However, I am getting a little tired of Odd. Wish he'd take a break from Oddie and finish the Christopher Snow series!!

My favorite Odd book yet. This is a fictional book I as a Christian really love because the spiritual battle so many in the secular world deny is the setting for our Odd one to vanquish the bad dudes.
