Description

Soon to be a Netflix limited series!

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo—"Reid is seriously a genius when it comes to stories about life and love" (Redbook). "A stunning first novel” (Publishers Weekly, starred review).

“Have you ever heard of supernovas? They shine brighter than anything else in the sky and then fade out really quickly, a short burst of extraordinary energy. I like to think you and Ben were like that . . . in that short time, you had more passion than some people have in a lifetime.”

Elsie Porter is an average twentysomething and yet what happens to her is anything but ordinary. On a rainy New Year’s Day, she heads out to pick up a pizza for one. She isn’t expecting to see anyone else in the shop, much less the adorable and charming Ben Ross. Their chemistry is instant and electric. Ben cannot even wait twenty-four hours before asking to see her again. Within weeks, the two are head over heels in love. By May, they’ve eloped.

Only nine days later, Ben is out riding his bike when he is hit by a truck and killed on impact. Elsie hears the sirens outside her apartment, but by the time she gets downstairs, he has already been whisked off to the emergency room. At the hospital, she must face Susan, the mother-in-law she has never met—and who doesn’t even know Elsie exists.

Interweaving Elsie and Ben’s charmed romance with Elsie and Susan’s healing process, Forever, Interrupted will remind you that there’s more than one way to find a happy ending.

A story about a whirlwind romance and the grief that comes when it’s taken from you too soon. Also about friendships and chosen family, those that help you through hard times. Told in flashbacks to see the beginnings of the love to present day, dealing with the sadness and despair of losing someone you love. A great story to show complex feelings.

There’s nothing quite like a quick TJR read. I found this post to be simply adorable! While the subject matter is serious, the author finds a way to keep the story, uplifting and entertaining. There are so many cute, personal touch the author throws in that you can’t help but smile even in a book about grief and death. Another good one by TJR!

I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel like I should warn the next reader. Don’t. Just don’t. This is the most depressing book I’ve ever read. I felt like it was never going to end. I only finished it because I can’t stand not to once I start. 1 star because I couldn’t give it a 0.

It honestly took me way too long to finish. At first it was promising, but there was just a huge lull throughout the whole book that had me wanting more. I get the premise of the book. I understand the point but it just felt like a monotonous feeling through the entire book. Wish it would have lived up to the hype.

The book was amazing, but the ending was abrupt. It felt like there should have been more to it.

Much of this book was sad. But it did touch on some “feel good” areas of people and relationships.

I love TJR. This book was good, I enjoyed going between different time lines to grow character information. This book is sweet and tender not overly dramatic and punchy. A very easy read that will pull at your heart.
  • Well written but…

Really appreciate TJR’s writing and the real take on grief but I found the character to be fairly uninteresting and at times selfish…
  • Devastating

I don’t normally leave reviews and honestly I’m not finished with the book, I’m in part two. But if you have anxiety about losing loved ones just know this book will rip you to shreds. I’ve fortunately never grieved the loss of someone I see as my soulmate, but now that I’ve found mine… this book made that bond so much more special to me. This book will make you cherish your life and the people in it but if you’re like me- you’ll sob and hyperventilate from the way this book is written. It’s beautifully devastating.
  • Beautifully written—the best book I’ve read for a long time.

In tears for much of Part 1, but Part 2 restored my faith in the resilience of mind and heart after terrible tragedy.

I had to read this for a second time because it’s just so good. Everyone should read it. Everyone should fall in love with Ben. Cry with Elsie and Susan. This book is so perfectly written. It bounces back and forth in time and brings you to tears and then to laughter back to tears again. One of my all time favorites ❤️

Forever Interrupted: A Novel isn't your typical romance novel. If you are looking for a book to sweep you off your feet from the word go, this isn't for you. This book takes a tragedy and makes you struggle with the aftermath right along with the main character, Elsie Porter Ross. She eventually comes to grips with reality when she learns to lean on those close to her and in turn she becomes a rock to those people. The author did a very good job of forcing me to question myself as if I were going through the same situation. As with her other book, After I Do, I found myself thinking about not just myself but how friends and family cope with the same situation. I suppose the moral of a Taylor Jenkins Reid story is to remember if you are suffering and you think you are alone, you are not and that is a very comforting thought.
