A breathtaking new novel about a young woman whose fate hinges on the choice she makes after bumping into an old flame; in alternating chapters, we see two possible scenarios unfold—with stunningly different results.
At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving yet another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.
Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?
In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Is anything meant to be? How much in our life is determined by chance? And perhaps, most compellingly: Is there such a thing as a soul mate?
Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.

5By sabreezy15I started this book on a flight and finished it maybe two weeks later due to a chaotic life. Nonetheless, this book is probably the BEST book I have read in a long time. Very well written and good plot overall. Kept my attention and made me want to keep reading. I’m a sucker for romance which this has a decent amount, pulls on the emotions with Gabby and Hannah. I would recommend others to read this book!Refreshing
4By BP2mommaA sweet little escape from reality with such heartwarming, thought provoking perspectiveVery original and thought provoking
5By JeristewartEnjoyed reading this book- asks/answers the question of whether there can be more than one outcome depending upon circumstances… really makes you thinkConfusing plot until the end
4By dbm217It took me up until Jesse’s speech to understand the double plot. Decent beach read though.Cinnamon rolls
4By bookclubbinGreat read. Not worth the time.
1By NiicoleyOhThis book became a burden to read and there was nothing exciting to it. Very predictable. Don’t waste your time.Happy read.
5By slaughter_ashIt was great! I love the idea of two different story lines and different outcomes!Glad I read this
4By Sad NamicattThis book really helped me feel better about the chaos of the world and how scary it can be to make decisions. I’m a very indecisive person. I either want to control everything or let fate take it all. But In the end the human brain will convince itself that everything was meant to happen. The friendship between the two girls was beautiful. But the main character staying friends with an ex who’s inlove with her in one of the universes was so unrealistic to me. Thank you for writing this book. I’m 25 and I think it’s the perfect age. So many choices to make for my future and it can all be overwhelming. I like the idea that there’s more then one person out there who you can have a happy life with. Just depends on how life goes. I also like the fact that while this is a book more for young adult women, there is no spicy scenes like in Colleen hover books. Will read again.
5By 7up20Such a great book!!! I loved the banter between all the characters, and the story line was just so fun. 10/10 recommend. Will read again.
