Welcome to Stanhope. A safe neighborhood. A place for families.
William Wooler is a family man, on the surface. But he’s been having an affair, an affair that ended horribly this afternoon at a motel up the road. So when he returns to his house, devastated and angry, to find his difficult nine-year-old daughter, Avery, unexpectedly home from school, William loses his temper.
Hours later, Avery’s family declares her missing.
Suddenly Stanhope doesn’t feel so safe. And William isn’t the only one on his street who’s hiding a lie. As witnesses come forward with information that may or may not be true, Avery's neighbors become increasingly unhinged.
Who took Avery Wooler?
Nothing will prepare you for the truth.

4By bigmak000Gone girl meets a family affair… every character is almost as equally unlikable in this novel but the story keeps you turning pages. Averys character, a nine year old little girl who is so clearly a psychopath, was a bit unrealistic to me but again it was an interesting enough book to keep reading. I read it in about four days.Loved but weird ending
4By EKS222I enjoyed this book all the way through- there are some elements that are a tad unbelievable, but other than that it’s a good read. Would recommend!A dark, yet addictive page-turner
4By CaliRyaI found this to be was a fast-paced, addictive read. It was so easy to read page after page that I didn’t want to put it down. Although there were quite a few dark moments and menacing characters. I also found the ending to be somewhat anticlimactic that left loose ends I would have liked to see wrapped up.One time read
3By cherrnikaI wouldn’t read again but overall takes your attentionHard to put down
4By RR1153I read this book in less than 24 hrs, it was really hard to put down! There were some plot deviations that I felt were a bit unnecessary, but overall, really really good book!!Pretty good
4By 5612053Not as good as usual. But pretty good. Weird endingIt was good until the ending..
3By Cute cartoonThe ending was not great. It was decent
3By Snooki boo booI’ve read all of Shari’s books and I was super excited for this one. I will say it was a good book and definitely kept me interested but for HER books (which I usually consider top tier) it definitely wasn’t my favorite. It was pretty predictable towards the end and usually I have no clue what’s going to happen in her books. Definitely still read it though!Light in the twists, but entertaining
4By LiquidCrystalsI have been waiting for this book to come out for quite some time. A couple of good twists in there that I didn’t expect, but a bit easier to figure out overall that some other offerings by this author. I do wish the ending could have gone on just a bit longer, as I would have liked to see the true villain (no spoilers) get their full dose of comeuppance, but at least it’s heavily implied that that’s what happened. As usual with this author, the characters were well-constructed and there are multiple stories intricately detailed yet woven together, making the story consistently entertaining from start to finish. I would recommend it!Predictable
2By fivestarsueI found that the story line was predictable and awkward. The characters weren’t fully developed, there was nothing redeeming about any of them, and the writing was short sentences in short paragraphs. I read good books in one or two sittings. “Everyone Here is Lying” took two weeks to get through, because I kept putting it down then picking it up just for something to read. Some people might like it, but it wasn’t my cup of tea.
