I found this compelling. Purchased during a three hour flight delay. By the flight I was hooked. As my first it totally held my interest.
Probably the best Sigma Force novel to date

With nods to the past but introducing plenty of new material, this book is definitely the best of the Sigma series to date.
Another Awesome Adventure

Another blockbuster from James Rollins. This edition of the Sigma series takes us from Yellowstone to Antarctica as they try to stop another earth extinction event. Once again great writing with an all star cast leads us on a non stop action adventure. Highly recommend you read this series.

I have been reading through the series of late. One question I have been asking is this; if Sigma Force is so secret and elite why is it that every bad guy knows about them and is always a step ahead. Their like the Keystone Cops until the very ending when they save the day. I know this series is not fine literature, but geez, do they have to be so predictable? Plus, after checking on some of his sources that he recommends, they are conspiracy laden tomes that can't be taken seriously. So his "facts" sometimes come from doubtful sources.
Great!

Disappointed

Thought it starts well, half way through it takes the routine path & the ending seems so obvious.

The Scientists are only slightly less beautiful than the Special Forces agents, and all are brilliant. Good wins out.

Yet another book that goes down to the last few seconds to save the world from disaster. Tedious, ponderous and completely unnecessary. Couple that with a plot hopelessly complicated and you have a less than fulfilling read.
I do love Sigma!

Being both a science teacher and an action reading enthusiast, I have always jumped at every new Sigma series novel that comes out.
This novel was pretty good but not necessarily the best. I do miss the prolonged battle scenes of past books but did love the plot throw-back to Subterranean.
I do hope James you are reading this and if so, I implore you, please bring back the original buddy team of Gray and Monk. That dynamic was so great and I have no idea why you have chosen to shelve Monk in the last couple of novels. Kowalski is entertaining but comes across more like Gray's "pet" commando - he is definitely no Monk.
Aaaagh! Disney stole James Rollins's brain...

...or at least his laptop. There's some fun science play here, but this is by far the weakest link in the Sigma chain. No Seichan. No Guild-like enemy (hell, the villain in this one even has a moral comeuppance). Not to mention a fairytale wedding...gross. All is not lost, Rollins does hint that there is more of the Sigma formula to come and I'm hooked. Let's just hope there's no more Once upon a time...and they all lived happily ever after.

The book started off well, but then quickly spiraled out of control and into a quick death that left the reader disappointed and wishing for a better story line that held together.
Interesting science, a little hokey, would be a good movie.

Not bad, not great. Couple of hammy scenes but all in all, it makes you think. Would make a good movie.
Awesome read

This is the best yet in the SIGMA series. I couldn't put it down.
