Description

Will a budding wedding planner and her bad boy neighbor stop banging heads and start hearing wedding bells in the sexy second novel in USA TODAY bestselling author Lauren Layne’s irresistible new series that marries Sex and the City with The Wedding Planner?

When small-town girl Heather Fowler finally gets promoted from assistant to actual wedding planner, she’s determined to make it as one of Manhattan’s elite Wedding Belles. Unfortunately, her first client demands an opulent black-tie affair at the Plaza…in five months’ time. Heather’s days quickly become a flurry of cake tastings, dress-fittings, RSVP cards, and bridal tantrums. But what she’s really losing sleep over is the live music blaring from her playboy neighbor’s apartment all night.

Five years ago, Josh Tanner was an up-and-comer on Wall Street, complete with the penthouse and the migraines. But a grim cancer diagnosis made him realize there is more to life than the corner office. If only he could convince his pretty, workaholic neighbor to let loose, too. As Heather lets down her guard, Josh is surprised when he starts falling for the sweet, vulnerable woman hiding beneath those power suits. Soon, it’s Heather’s turn to convince Josh to take the biggest risk of all: love.

A sweet and sassy romance with a couple that feels as though they could walk off the page and live in real life. I really enjoyed For Better or Worse and am now officially addicted to the Wedding Belle series. Heather and Josh were sweet, funny and absolutely sassy. I loved their chemistry and banter. Neither was looking for "more" and they certainly resisted it at every turn. The fun and at times, frustration is what makes this book so fabulous. Happy reading!

This is book # 2 in The Wedding Belles series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment and understanding, I recommend reading the series in order. Josh is seriously attracted to the angry slash feisty neighbor who tells him to turn down his noise. Can Heather convince him that she needs his help? Planning the wedding of the year is a daunting task. Unless you have an inside track.... Seriously a fun and sexy series. This story was no different. There is this kitchen scene where the moment is so sweet .... and yet they turn up the heat and it gets HOT! Just like any Lauren Layne book, it comes with surprises, laughter, and heat. Fantastic read! Loved the writing in this entertaining, sexy, and sweet romance. Excellent pace and build. Well developed with really likable and interesting characters. So many woven details that made this story pure perfection. I couldn't put this down because I loved every minute of this story. Just thinking about this story makes me happy. I adored Heather and Josh. Heather is so feisty and I loved all her comebacks in their flirty, snarky banter. Josh was so playful and sexy. As their chemistry gradually builds I found myself smiling and rooting for them with every encounter. Enjoyed all the secondary characters that added so much to this story. Loved Josh's mom. Loved the update on Brooke and Seth's romance from book one in the series. Adored learning and seeing more of the Belles relationship and getting to know more about Logan. It's going to kill me to wait for Alexis and Logan's story. Highly Recommended! Received a complimentary copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

There aren't many authors who are so amazing that I love everything they write, but LL is definitely one of them. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. I haven't read book one yet but it's on top of my TBR. Heather has dreamed of moving to NYC and being a wedding planner her whole life. She's finally made it. She's an associate wedding planner and finally has her own apartment. If she can ace this next wedding, she'll be able to remove associate from her title. If only her next door neighbor would keep his band practice down so she can get the sleep she needs. Josh used to be a workaholic hedge fund manager until his health scare forced him to reevaluate what's important in life. He's not looking for any long lasting relationships and he sure wouldn't mind spending some time with his new neighbor. The banter between these two was absolutely hilarious! Their bickering at every turn completely drew me in and had me wondering what they were going to spar about next. While there was a ton of humor, there was also a healthy dose of angst and heat. This friends to lovers story is a definite must read! I can't wait for Alexis's story!! *I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*

Every time Lauren Layne publishes a new book, I think to myself “THIS one is my favorite yet!” Well, she absolutely outdid herself with “For Better or Worse” (I say this EVERY time—but it’s true!!!). This book is everything you want in a romantic comedy. It’s charming, witty, and completely engrossing. I read this book from cover to cover in one afternoon (something I often find myself doing with Layne’s books). Lauren Layne has her formula down to an art and I love everything about it. I see it, I respect it, and I will continue to read and love everything this woman publishes. This was my kind of story. We follow Heather Fowler, assistant wedding planner, as she crosses over into the life of official wedding planner (days away from her new promotion). She’s recently moved into her fancy new apartment and has landed the biggest celebrity wedding of the year. BUT she finds herself being kept up at night by her extremely attractive and hard-to-resist playboy neighbor, Josh. They obviously don’t get off on the right foot and witty banter/sexual tension ensues. I can’t help myself—I love it when the characters don’t get along from the start. It’s a fantastic way to build up tension so that when they finally get together: BAM! Fireworks. Spoiler alert? ;) I enjoyed Heather immensely. She’s a strong, independent woman—someone who puts her wants/needs above her desire to find a man. I appreciated her passion for her work and her goal-oriented mindset. These qualities made her so relatable and totally worth rooting for. It made it that much more exciting to watch her fall in love and get her fairytale ending. If you’re looking for a delightful, romantic read—look no further than “The Wedding Belles” series. Or really, anything written by Lauren Layne! Note: I received a FREE ARC (advanced reader copy) from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the first book so much I thought there was no way this series could get better but it did! I could not put this book down! The characters, the story line, everything about this book was wonderful. Heather Fowler has always wanted to be a wedding planner, in New York City, since the days of her mom's revolving door with men. Having just moved into a great apartment, Heather knows she is this close to being promoted from an assistant to an actual wedding planner. Imagine her surprise when one of the wealthiest socialites wants Heather to plan her wedding after seeing another weddings she has done. Being excited and up to the task, Heather didn't plan on the bride being completely hands off when it came to her own wedding or that her new, loud, next door neighbor would keep her up late on Friday nights playing his music. Josh Tanner may appear to be a partying type of guy, but after having just beat cancer, he left his job as a hedge fund manager on Wall Street to live a life careless and free, including starting his own rock band. Lately, even the band doesn't seem to hold his interest any more....at least until he meets his new neighbor, Heather....now that's something interesting! The first meeting between Heather and Josh was so funny I couldn't stop laughing. I will always think of these two when I see banana bread! :) Of course there is instant attraction between the two and Josh is all for pursuing a friends with benefits relationship, but Heather needs to concentrate on the big wedding she is planning. Little by little Josh breaks through Heather's walls and he ends up actually helping her plan the wedding because....ta da...he used to date the bride! The story these two go through while planning the wedding was perfect! It brought together two people who were both NOT looking for a real relationship and slowly put them in one without either of them really realizing it. Once the two of the gave into their feelings....BOOM! I enjoyed both of their back stories...it helped understand why each of them are like they are. Their happy ending was just magical. This story made me laugh, swoon and cry....all the great things needed for a great story. I highly recommend this book. It's not often that book #2 is even better than book #1!

LOVED this book!! The second in a series but easily read standalone. This one will have you sighing and chuckling all the way through. Heather Fowler finally gets her chance to earn a position as a full fledged wedding planner rather than just an assistant. She knows she can handle the job and the pressure. If she could just get a good nights sleep!! Pounding on the door of apt 4C and letting the guy have it for all the noise seems to be the only way that's going to happen! Josh Tanner thinks the woman currently residing in 4A is cute and sexy even if she does seem to be wound a little too tight. After a health scare, Josh change his ways and now lives his life free and easy. So why he's so attracted to the go getter next door is beyond him but he's determined to get her to loosen up a bit and she's determined to take things a bit more seriously. A great read that you need on your must read list. I highly recommend it.

Grab your tissues and get ready to wrap yourself in a big shiny bow full of happiness: better than a really good hug. For Better or Worse brings us the story of Heather, the assistant wedding planner at The Wedding Belles, an upscale New York company. She’s only got 3 problems: the bride for her big wedding won’t return her calls, her mother is refusing (again) to visit her in New York over Thanksgiving and her neighbor in 4a is running late-night band practice when his door isn’t revolving around his overnight female company. And now Heather has 4 problems. She can’t stop thinking about 4a. But, a relationship isn’t a thing here: it would be weird when things ended. 4a is Jake. Sexy, smart, and saucy with an obsessive fixation on banana bread. Seemingly drifting through life with his band, music, workouts and a steady stream of different women leaving in the morning, his only apparent hard rule is no relationships. He’s not immune to Heather, and her professed disinterest in a relationship is intriguing. These two are so perfect for one another, yet both so stuck in their own fears about relationships (or the ends of them) that their friendship quickly turns to one with benefits.. neither quite ready to step up and out and take a chance. Jake’s own past and guilt over his own secret that there’s a wall Heather bashes her head against, again and again, until she walks away. Fortunately, Jake’s mum and the others at The Wedding Belles are not willing to allow Heather and Jake to drift apart, unhappy and unmatched… A wonderful, and perhaps my favorite, book of the series so far: Layne combines heart, humor and a bit of good old fashioned tears to make this one come around to a happy ending. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
