Description

USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Sparks fly between a misunderstood New York socialite and a cynical divorce lawyer in this lively standalone rom-com from the author of Blurred Lines and Love Story.

Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.

Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it. But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.

Such a simple storyline, but fun and sweet. And hot. I rarely want to read a book multiple times, but this book is an exception.

WALK OF SHAME is just the right blend of everything I love in a book. It is a delightfully funny, feel good story. It has great writing, witty dialogue, memorable characters and the story immediately drew me and I never wanted it to end. Georgiana (Georgie) Wilkins is a socialite. She doesn't work, she just enjoys life. She stays out all night and sleeps during the day. She spends her time shopping, having her hair done, working on charity events and going to clubs with her friends. She is fun loving, has a bubbly personality and she gets along with everyone. She is the exact opposite of Andrew Mulroney. Andrew is an uptight attorney who lives in the same upscale building as Georgie. Every morning they pass each other as Andrew is leaving for work and Georgie is coming home from another fun night on the town. Andrew is the most famous divorce attorney in the city. He is also a workaholic and follows a rigorous schedule. He sneers at Georgie's frivolous lifestyle and Georgie loves to say things to get under Andrew’s skin. It is highly entertaining as they lobby snarky remarks as they pass each other every morning. Andrew thinks Georgie is self indulgent and useless yet, he can't help but notice how attractive she is. There is a lot of sexual tension and verbal foreplay between Andrew and Georgie and they are confused by what they are feeling. Andrew is super smart, formal and hard working. He is the total opposite of Georgie’s friendly, relaxed demeanor. Andrew has never met anyone like Georgie and isn't sure how to act around her or what to say. Even though they are the exact opposite, they are good for each other. Georgie helps Andrew loosen up and Andrew helps Georgie take life more seriously. It is fun watching these two together and I also enjoyed the entertaining secondary characters. Perfection! Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book vIa Cocktails and Books and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

I read everything LL writes & this is definitely in the top 3! I love Georgie and Andrew's banter so much. Many times I'd laugh out loud! & I loved it when they stopped fighting their attraction to one another! I only wish the book had been longer. Always a sad thing when before you know it, the book is over. But worth the wait for sure!

Walk of Shame (Love Unexpectedly) by Lauren Layne This is heiress Georgianna "Georgie" Watkins and celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney's story. This was a really fun and entertaining story! Georgie and Andrew are opposites but they are perfect for each other. I loved the banter and chemistry between them. I loved this story! I was was hooked from the beginning to end. The sex scenes were minimal but the ones it did have were really hot and steamy! This is a must read! So, kick back and escape into Georgie and Andrew's world. FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

As with each book Ms Layne writes, I was captivated from the onset, drawn in to the nature of the characters creating emotions in an instant. Yet this story had a different tone to it than her others, with its carefree nature that was juxtaposed to its stringent aspect...perfectly describing Georgie and Andrew in that order. The counterpoint to her breath of fresh air persona was his logical well orchestrated personality. Their's was a rising to nearly boiling point attraction, denied by both long enough to create tension and an explosive chemistry. The build up to their coming together left me holding my breath at times, then whooping with joy at others...only turning it around and making my heart sigh. Georgie and Andrew have to be one of my favorite couples...and this author is well know for creating some very memorable ones, all from what I perceive to be her vivid, romantic imagination. In Georgie Andrew found the gentle loving nature that he needed, all brought to life through this author's creativity, making them a couple not easily forgotten. The descriptions of Georgie's bubbling, laugh at her self perceptions was enough to bring her to life in my mind's eye. Andrew's stodginess (Georgie's charming tag) was so well created, it led to the visual of him as clear as if he was standing before me, scowl and all. Georgie's first person narrative was genius...her inner monologue was tremendously wry, snappy, and full of wit with clear insight into human nature. Her outlook on life through her inner musings was entertaining and one of my favorite things about the story. The hilarity in her wonderfully wondering thoughts drove the course of the story, keeping it fresh and moving smoothly through to the HEA end. This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

There are truly not enough adjectives to describe this book! Funny, sweet, sexy, touching, enchanting, colorful, frustrating, brilliant...I obviously could go on and on. The ultimate opposites attract couple; her the friendly, bubbly party girl versus him, the stoic, serious, stodgy divorce lawyer. Truly nothing in common on the surface but you root for them from page one. I laughed, I wanted to punch them both, I cried, I wanted to hit Andrew, I wanted to shake Georgie...and I could Not. Put. It. Down. Not only is this my very favorite Lauren Layne book now (and that's saying something...sorry Lincoln!) but it's the best book I've read all year! This will be one of those stories that I read again and again...and again. Loved it :)

This is the perfect rainy or just a blah day book. Walk of Shame is a book that celebrates fairytales, while still being completely believable and reflective of modern romance. I found Georgie, our heroine, a breath of fresh air. On the surface Georgie is a shallow party girl who has no shame for her boozy floozy lifestyle. She is also a very nice person who cares about everyone she encounters and goes out of her way to show her appreciation. Our hero Andrew, is a morally upright "my body is my temple" stick in the mud kind of guy. He is the kind of guy who never thinks about whether or not he cares about people outside his closest family and friends. Andrew is a cold, yet handsome, fish. I enjoyed the development of our couple's relationship from the snarky encounters in the lobby of their apartment building to their mutual spark heating into a strong romantic relationship. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romances. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am a huge LL fan and love enemies to lovers stories so I couldn't wait for this book to be released. Georgie is a socialite who parties all night but makes sure she's back in her building's lobby by 5 am to run into her stuffy neighbor, Andrew, just to get under his skin. Andrew is a divorce attorney who lives a super structured life but makes sure he's in his building's lobby by 5 am to run into his ridiculous neighbor, Georgianna, just to get under her skin. Georgie and Andrew are opposites in almost every way but their chemistry is off the charts and the banter they have is hilarious. A secret threatens to end their tenuous relationship before it even starts. The only thing that I didn't like about this book was that while it's dual POV, Georgie's POV is in first person and Andrew's is in third person. It didn't, in any way, take away from the story but it did throw me off when the POV changed. Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. I loved the banter, Georgie's personality, and Andrew's commitment to his work and family. I never wanted their story end!
