The second installment of the White House Series, from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

We fell in love during the campaign.
The stakes were high.
Reputations could have been ruined.
Scandal hovered over us like a cloud.
Now the man I love is the President of the United States of America.
And its not my vote he is after.
He wants it all.
My heart. My body. My soul.
He wants me by his side.
In the White House.
Normalcy will be gone from my life, privacy forgotten.
I am only twenty three. I just wanted to play a part in history. But it seems like history wasn't done with me. The part where I lost my heart to Matthew Hamilton? It was only the beginning...

This is my first series from this author and I must say I was impressed. I love these series. I was worried it would focus more on politics than romance but the author did a great job of balancing both topics. The ending was perfect. I love Matt. I love how he didn’t change and Charlotte was still the center of this world. A must read for sure and for a great price.

Charlotte wants a man to love and a man who can make a difference. Commander in Chief begins where Mr. President ends with Matt winning the election and losing Charlotte. Charlotte promised herself and Matt that their affair was temporary. Yet, Matt needs a First Lady to stand by his side. Now it’s Charlotte’s turn to win the public’s attention. Charlotte is the senator’s daughter who has wanted to make a difference, yet she never dreamed she could make one on this scale. Charlotte never dreamed one letter stating she would help Matt campaign to win the presidential election would give her the opportunity to live in the White House as the First Lady. Charlotte’s character was a worrier. She had adversities with many issues letting her fears and insecurities get the best of her. I had a love/hate relationship with her. I hated her insecurities. Matt’s character was insatiable. He wanted the best from both worlds. I had a love/hate relationship with him as well. I hated his possessiveness. The sex scenes were even more explicit if that is even possible. Technically they were the same scenes played over and over again with different locations. Each scenes began the same with kissing, fingers, licking, sucking, tugging, and thrusting. I got tired of the same old song and dance. However, with being in the White House the rendezvous were upgraded with some untraditional ravishing in certain rooms. It seemed the sex scenes were the most taboo of all considering the way they interacted with one another. It’s not typical to picture your President licking, sucking, fingering, and kissing a woman in the Oval Office while guards line the hallways. It was sexy, yet too explicit, almost scandalous. With Charlotte wanting to avoid a scandal I felt she was still part of one inside the White House. For an untraditional President Matt’s scandalous sex life behind close doors was like most traditional scandals. Matt was an untraditional candidate having campaigned as a bachelor. Most ever decision he made was made with this same untraditional method. I’m still questioning the transition from secret lover to First Lady to bride. It’s no spoiler that Charlotte and Matt would get their HEA. I knew going into this book to expect it, yet it was anticlimactic to say the least. I expected more grandeur with this transition as a young president who practiced untraditional methods. Overall: I didn’t love this book the same way I loved the first one. This one was too easy. Everything fell into place too easily with no resistance. At times it felt repetitious with sex...sex...sex. I skimmed most parts in this book due to the explicit nature of these sex scenes.

I loved getting to see how they work through their issues and getting to see their happy ever after. I would 10/10 recommend reading. Katy Evans is the best. Don’t forget to read “Mr. President” first though.

I enjoyed Commander in Chief, but I think I may have liked Mr. President just a tad more. Matt and Charlotte are an adorable couple and I loved reading about them. I liked reading about the presidency and how everything progresses with Matt and Charlotte's relationship. I was happy that we got more from Matt's POV; it made the book more entertaining. I enjoyed all the happy and joyful times, but it was a little less exciting with the lack of problems. There were still some rough patches, but it was a little lack luster with no real big overarching problem. I of course still liked it cause I really like them as a couple, but there could have been a little bit more to the storyline. I'm intrigued for the next book and to find out who the main characters are going to be.

I love Katy Evans and have read all of her books but this one missed the mark. It's basically one long epilogue. Matt is perfect, he's the perfect president, perfect husband and father. Charlotte is perfect, perfect FLOTUS, perfect wife, perfect mom. Their wedding is perfect, their love is perfect, the sex is perfect, their beauty is perfect....blah, blah, blah. Zero excitement, zero plot. Very anticlimactic, very boring. Katy, don't do a 3rd book in this series even if there are different characters.
  • It was okay.

I read Mr. President and loved Matt and Charlotte's story, and when I found it there would be a second book I was stoked. This time around however I found myself a bit bored even annoyed sometimes with the characters. I found myself skipping whole paragraphs and even pages because Charlotte was once again explaining how Matt effects her so much and vice versa. Though there are interesting bits that are enjoyable, overall nothing really happens. I forced myself to finish this book, even though I guessed everything that would happen a fourth of the way through. There was nothing that made me want to keep reading. This is just a continuation of their story and their lives in the White House, and only that.

From the beginning of this book, I fell even more in love with Matt Hamilton. He had let Charlotte leave because he didn't think he could be President and love someone. When he realized his mistake, he knew his only option was to have Charlotte with him always. This book spans the first term of the Hamilton presidency and tells the love story between Matt and Charlotte. They have a true happily ever after. They both believe in each other so much and want the other person to be happy. More than the love for each other, is the love for their country. They know that the country comes first, but their family is always right next to it in its importance. Matthew never lets Charlotte feel anything less than the most important person in his life. I loved how this book was not a crazy jealousy book or they pushed each other away from each other during stressful times. This book tells you how a real life marriage works. In hard times, you lean on your significant other and they are your rock. Matthew and Charlotte gave me such a warm feeling in how they expressed their love to one another. So well written and these characters are near and dear to me. Well done.

It was a cute ending, and arguably it ended fairly well... but there just wasn't any conflict or drama within the novel that made the novel worth reading. Everything just felt a little TOO easy, which made certain aspects less realistic than the first novel. Sorry Katy.

Katy Evans, what a story! This, at heart, was a love story. A heartwarming and hot love story between Matt and Charlotte. The love Matt and Charlotte have for their children and their families. Matt and Charlotte's love of country and citizens. Politics is never easy to write I would imagine and throw in a murder mystery to boot, very ambitious. But, she did it. People say this a lot including me, but really, really once you pick it up you can't put it down and you don't want it to end. Excited to see what she has in store for us.
