Two girls are forced into the woods at gunpoint. One runs for her life. One is left behind…
Twenty-eight years ago, Charlotte and Samantha Quinn's happy small-town family life was torn apart by a terrifying attack on their family home. It left their mother dead. It left their father — Pikeville's notorious defense attorney — devastated. And it left the family fractured beyond repair, consumed by secrets from that terrible night.
Twenty-eight years later, and Charlie has followed in her father's footsteps to become a lawyer herself — the ideal good daughter. But when violence comes to Pikeville again — and a shocking tragedy leaves the whole town traumatized — Charlie is plunged into a nightmare. Not only is she the first witness on the scene, but it's a case that unleashes the terrible memories she's spent so long trying to suppress. Because the shocking truth about the crime that destroyed her family nearly thirty years ago won't stay buried forever…

4By BigAng57I like this book & I actually like Karin Slaughter. It was a crazy read, in a good way. But I think I need help trying to find if there are books that follow this? How do you know if there are following books?Kept me guessing the whole time
4By HMF14I had conflicted feelings on this book; for the strength of the plot twists alone, it is worth a read and I genuinely did not expect the ending. However, it is pretty gruesomely violent and upsetting at parts. My other critique is that the main characters’ emotions, particularly Sam and Charlie, seems a bit contrived and I can’t imagine real people would act or feel that way after their past. I enjoyed Rusty’s character and the legal side of the book the most; some of the family dynamics were a bit long.Great read
5By dml266First of this author’s books I have read. I will be looking for more.Stunning and Explosive
5By GlamGurl619From the get-go, this story is absolute madness and intensity. I enjoyed the never ending twists and turns. I’ve got to say this author knows how to write a thriller. Also, there are many spiritual offerings. I highly enjoyed this novel. Do it!Can’t put it down!
