Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Detectives, lovers, and enemies face off in an unforgettable battle between righteous courage and deepest evil, from “one of the best crime novelists in America” (The Washington Post).

WATCH WILL TRENT ON ABC • “Compelling . . . Slaughter balances a complex plot with believable twists while sensitively exploring her realistic characters’ emotions and problems.”—South Florida Sun-Sentinel

With the bonus story “Busted”

Will Trent is a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent, working undercover in Macon, Georgia, posing as Bill Black, a scary ex-con who trails an air of violence wherever he goes. The cover has worked and he has caught the eye of a wiry little drug dealer who thinks he might be a useful ally.

But there’s a problem. Cut off from the support of the woman he loves, Sara Linton, Will finds his demons catching up with him.

Although she has no idea where Will has gone, or why, Sara herself has come to Macon because of a cop shooting. Her stepson, Jared, has been gunned down. Suddenly, without even knowing it, Sara finds herself involved in the same case that Will is working—with danger swirling around both of them.

A novel of fierce intensity, shifting allegiances, and shocking twists, Unseen is an electrifying thriller and a piercing study of human nature: what happens when good people face the unseen evils in their lives.

This was one of the worst books I’ve ever read. The cliches made me nauseous, the stereotypes were so over the top that I can’t believe any editor would allow this to be published. The repeated beatings of Will Trent are absurd, the dialogue is revolting, and the plot line is so ridiculous predictable. Strip clubs, dirty cops, redneck imbeciles, torrid sex scenes?!! C’MON. I’m really appalled that Slaughter has sunk so low given her past works.

Was “ok” I love Will Trent I might even be “in love” with him but I just can’t take Sara! I kept saying to myself “why is she even here” She adds nothing. This book started out so great, it was exciting, I was excited, then it took a turn somewhere and became a juvenile high school drama with a whole handful of characters I couldn’t care less about-Jarod’s parents? Possum? Sara’s sister?

Unseen is one of Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent books. GBI agent Will, in conjunction with his partner Faith and other honest officers, deal with traffickers of both people and drugs, as well as people dealing with perversions that are difficult but necessary to understand - in order to expose and curtail them. As always, I found Karin’s characters and storylines to be authentic to my own experience working in the Criminal Justice system. I highly recommend this mystery / police procedural / love story.

I've read couple of author's previous books which were quite good. This book, however, has much unnecessary verbiage totally unrelated to the 'plot'. Easy enough to fast forward through in a large book but just detracts from story.

I have read & truly enjoyed all of the Sara Linton books. As the books & plots have evolved, I love the ones with Will Trent. I truly hope there will be more of those coming. To anyone that has not started this series, please start with the first book!!
  • Love the series, not my favorite book

This series literally got me hooked on reading again after falling off the wagon for a few years. I read everyone one of her books just about as fast I could, so I'm always checking in every few months for more. This book was enjoyable. I love the characters, it just felt like it was lacking a little in both the depth of the characters and of the story line. Worth the read, but I can't say I couldn't put it down (as I can with all her other books).
  • Unbelievably Great Writer!

I started reading Slaughter's books on a recommendation from a friend. What a ride, indeed. From Kisscut to Unseen, I could barely put them down. The stories are presented in such a manner that you feel like the characters, locations, and emotions are real. Each book is a new adventure or mystery, but the familiar characters re-appear to give the feel of an ongoing story line. I highly recommend reading all her books. My only regret, is that I have to wait for her next Novel.

This was one of the worst books I have read in many years. As I am a retired police officer, I enjoy reading all types of detective and court room dramas. Michael Connelly novels are my favorites, but I have read all his books and was ready to try out a new author. This book had zero character development, not to mention the fact that I had no idea who half the characters were. The plot made absolutely no sense, and the time sequences were so confusing that you didn't know if she was referring to the present or the past. The police procedures were totally incorrect, so I don't know who the author used for research in these areas. The only reason I kept plugging through the book was because I paid $12.99 for the ebook, and frankly, I kept hoping the book would get better. I see the author has published a number of books, so maybe I just picked the dog of the bunch. Either way, I will not be wasting any more of my time or money reading her other novels.
