Description
Namibia, Photographs from an Ancient Land showcases landscape, portraiture and wildlife images from Pam & Wayne Osborn’s travels through the Namibian wilderness.
Namibia is a young country in an ancient land. It is sparsely populated with immense tracts of wilderness. Formerly known as South West Africa, it was colonised firstly by Germany and then South Africa. A bloody war of independence culminated in Namibia raising its own flag in the capital Windhoek in 1990.
It’s a land rich in photographic opportunities. From quiver trees and the rugged chasm of the Fish River Canyon, the classic towering sand dunes of Sossusvlei and the wildlife of the Etosha Pan. The ghost diamond-mining town of Kolmanskop reveals nature’s reclaim of a decaying settlement. Semi nomadic Himba tribes eking a subsistence existence provide a sobering contrast to our modern lifestyles.
Pam and Wayne’s books have been downloaded in 37 countries.
