Description

Chloe Deems is a plus sized girl with pink hair and an attitude –she owns her curves. Which is one reason she’s so upset when she gets abducted by aliens and forced to live in a Smart House designed to make her lose weight. She has to weigh in every day and the smart-aleck talking scale decides what she’s allowed to eat which is always lettuce and celery and never the delicious Thin Mints she can see peering tantalizingly out from behind the unbreakable glass cupboard in the kitchen. To Chloe, it seems like things just can’t get any worse…until a prospective buyer comes to look her over.

Tark is a Beast Kindred who has been on the outside looking in his whole life. A debilitating stutter has kept him from finding a mate or settling down. Finally he gets a prophesy from a priestess telling him to seek for an elusive jewel which can cure his voice and Tark knows just where to look for it—in the house where Chloe is being held prisoner. But instead of the jewel, he finds a feisty, gorgeous plus-sized girl who’s ready to fight for her life. He agrees to rescue her if she’ll help him look in the only other place the jewel might be—the Resort of Resonant Oneness, located deep underground on a planet that straddles the lines between dimensions.

Chloe agrees to help the big Kindred out in return for her freedom but she doesn’t know that the resort they are traveling to has some distinctly erotic ideas about “oneness.” Now she and the huge Beast Kindred are stuck doing some incredible embarrassing and intimate exercises that make even the brash Chloe blush. Still, she and Tark seem to be growing closer…until a monster from her past kidnaps Chloe.

Tark is given a choice—between rescuing the woman he has come to love, or completing the task he set himself in the first place and regaining his voice.
Which will he choose?

This book has been amazing.. could NOT put it down. Any of evangeline Anderson’s kindreds series is highly recommended!!! The “heroes” are sexy and brave and embrace their women’s crazy ways (lol!) and love their woman as they are and help them embrace themselves.. and we could all use a little dose of that with a side of sexy. :)

I mean I loved this one. It was awesome from start to finish. I was a little annoyed by the way the MC is described because as someone who is an anime/manga fan myself, to use that as a description and do nothing with it was less of a shout out to all kinds of people and more of a, "I need something to make this character unique but don’t know what to actually do with it so I’ll ignore it and hope you use the stereotype I want to pop uo in your head for it." The MC would’ve have been fine w/o the descriptor because it is legit not used ever again or in a way to describe how she feels about situations and I’m a little sad because it could have been utilized in such a fun way in this series. But apart from that, the MCs were great together and relatabled. I have read this one over many times since purchased. I think it is definitely worth the pick up if you’re on the fence.

Evangeline Anderson: A Kindred Tales Plus Novel (Brides of the Kindred) This is definitely a welcomed Plus sized Tales Novel and one of the best of the series. It starts out with a lot of humor, with the female,Chloe, being abducted by alien sellers. Then she is forced by them to lose weight in a “smart” house, so she’d be an ideal female to sell on the alien market. Behind some very funny scenes there’s a serious side addressing the ills of a society that prizes “thin” women as ideal and insensitively disregarding what is truly ideal in a person. Chloe, a pretty plus sized, pink haired woman has been subjected to “fat shaming “ her whole life due to her weight “issues”. This book has all the great elements of the Kindred books but it also pulled at my heartstrings approaching the challenges that make some of us different and how the world treats these people as well as how it affects their own self-esteem. Although there is not a horrible evil entity endangering the hero and heroine, the story line’s exciting crazy adventurous quest holds the readers minds and imaginations from the very first page to the last. Tark , a Beast Kindred has suffered all his life with a severe stutter. Abused by his father for his impediment, he has withdrawn from society. In addition he feels his condition makes him undeserving of ever having a mate. Some characters really pull on my heart strings and Tark is one of them. On his quest to find a cure for his stuttering, he finds himself rescuing Chloe from the aliens. Chloe, who happens to be a speech therapist, goes on this quest to help the big Kindred who has come to her aide. Thru different worlds, dimensions, crazy adventures and sexy hot situations, misunderstandings between the two well developed characters, the author has gifted us with another wonderful escape into the Kindred world.

Another great book by Evangeline Anderson. I just love reading about the Kindreds. When it come to the Kindred there is not one I do not like. They all have something about them that makes them unique and they all have a heart of gold. But I do have to say the Beast Kindred is one of my favorite and that was what Tark was. Tark was one that had some struggles and these struggles caused insecurities and frustrations. His struggle was that he stuttered. As we read about Tark we get to see the hardship this brought to his life. For this he was on the search of a jewel that would take his stuttering away. The one thing I love about these stories is the author does an amazing job writing the female character to go with the Kindred and Chloe was that. Chloe battled with there weight. She felt unworthy of men. She felt looked down up on. So I can only imagine the nightmare when she found herself kidnapped by aliens that wanted her to lose weight. Well more like forcing her to lose weight. Each piece of this house like place she was staying at had to be a nightmare. I laughed so hard when Tark was going through the house that Chloe was being held captive at. I pictured these fist pumps from Chloe with each thing Tark destroyed..lol So funny. Here Chloe was feeling like she had no hope to find herself getting a spark of hope when Tark arrived. Tark and Chloe will go on an amazing journey and self discovery. There are some pretty steamy parts and so very touching parts. I loved how Chloe was the key to Tark’s happiness. She might not could heal him of the stuttering but she could should be his light in a dark tunnel. Great story and glad I got a chance to read the book.

Evangeline has done an amazing job with this one. Chloe has been kidnapped and put into a “fat-shaming house” to make her lose weight so she’ll be the “ideal” earth girl they’re looking for. Having always been a bigger girl, she’s gotten comfortable with her weight, but this house of bullying is causing her to doubt herself. Tark has also suffered throughout his life by being bullied, not only because of him being a beast Kindred on twin moons, but also because of his speech problem. These two are a match made perfectly for one another as she’s a speech therapist by trade and he, like the twin Kindred, loves the “elite” women. Unfortunately, miscommunication on several different factors causes them more harm than good and they fall apart. This story is definitely one you don’t want to miss.
