Description

A Brand New Tangled & Tempting Romance from New York Times Bestseller, Pepper Winters.

"Must be slim, able to stand for long periods of time, and be impervious to the cold.”

The headline caught my attention.

“Hours are negotiable, pay is minimal, clothing absolutely forbidden.”

The second line piqued my curiosity.

“Able to hold your bladder and tongue, refrain from opinions or suggestions, and be the perfect living canvas.”

The third made me scowl.

“Other attributes required: non-ticklish, contortionist, and obedient. Must also enjoy being studied while naked in a crowd.”

The fourth made me shudder.

“Call or email ‘YOUR SKIN, HIS CANVAS’ if interested in applying.”

The final made my heart race.

I should’ve kept scrolling past the advertisement.
I should’ve applied for the boring receptionist job at minimum wage.
I should’ve clicked on any other job where I got to keep my clothes on.
But I didn’t.
I applied.
My interview is tomorrow…

Gilbert was Olin’s first love and they have a chance encounter years later through an advertisement Olin saw. Talk about fate and destiny always bringing people back together that are meant to be. They have a broken past though, Gil left her and and broke her. There is also a very suspenseful element to this story that keeps you engaged in totally different ways. I will start off by saying I was extremely intrigued by the premise of this story. I did not realize that I would be left on a cliffhanger. However, as much as I want to know what happened next I was not pulled into the story as much as I needed to be to jump right into it. I think I had a harder time with the accents of the narrator’s. Though they did grow on me, it took a while to get used to them. I have listened to other audios where I loved the accents off the bat but this one was a bit more dry for me.

It just doesn’t god my attention very well. Just a lot of back and forth but no growth or any conclusion I’m the end of the second book just don’t waste your money on this series when she has so many wonderful other ones

I really want to know how the story ends, but I cannot sit through another entire book written like this. So different than her other amazing series’. I get saving the major reveal for the end, but there was NOTHING of substance through almost the entire thing because of the main male characters continued self hatred that he went on and on about over and over!

Pepper Winters has this natural ability to capture and throw me into one of her book worlds. Every single time I feel what they feel, see what they see, and fall in love with their love. I figured out the ending as I assume most reading will; however, it didn’t stop it from breaking my heart. This story is amazing. Pepper’s writing is amazing. She definitely deserves more recognition for her writing than she does.

Earning a complicated love comes at a price, one Olin doesn’t understand because Gil has past secrets that he’s hidden from her. He’s the master body painter and she’s the canvas. There is no us there can never be an us with a hidden past lingering in the present. Overall: I was expecting more artistry from the body painter instead this was a story about Gil’s haunting past that he’s not willing to share with Olin. The mystery of this past haunts these pages for the entire premise of the book. The reader is unaware of Gil’s past and what led to him working as a body painter. As we follow the lives of both characters we are given a slow integrated backstory of their past relationship and how it affected the present. If it’s even possible I’d venture to say Gil was more of a sexual beast then Ren. Pepper loves her dark dangerous monsters by giving her male characters a tortured dark soul. I hate feeling this anxious towards a character. It takes away from my enjoyment. This long lingering secret held back the progression of this story. The savage sex scenes were redundant. Instead of quenching my thirst of the desire and lust that brewed between them for seven years I felt bored with the redundancy of the violent nature with which he behaved. Pepper is the queen of evading secrets, but enough is enough and I lost interest. Rather than be interested that Gil and Olin have reconnected I’m skimming the book to find a connection. In the past, I appreciated the words Pepper wrote, but this time it seemed stagnant with very little progression. The dialogue went round and round in circles dishing out the same lines with sex being the only thing progressing these two characters. The unveiling of secrets was few and far between and there wasn’t enough story to push this story forward. Yet, Pepper ended with the most epic shocking truth which had me doubting my distaste for this story. I do need closure even though this was a difficult journey, I’m certain I will persevere with more tortuous words. Don’t get me wrong Pepper is a true artist. Her covers alone are stunning. Each one is eye catching and this one certainly paints a pretty picture. Yet what I envisioned and what was delivered didn’t line up.

When I say I never leave reviews...I never leave reviews.... And I’m really the free first of a series type of girl....just to test out the waters type of girl... But I’ve read her books before and I know she is an amazing author so I thought so let’s give it a whirl and buy a first in a series for once.... I am completely captivated!!! The chemistry is strong.... the feelings are undeniable...but at the same time you are so unsure what is going on and who’s side should you be on. So unsure about the whole situation but leaves your heart aching for these two well developed characters to find their way to each other! This book was phenomenal and I am screaming over here where is book number 2! Please don’t keep us waiting too long pepper! I’m dying here!! You are amazing!!♥️

“Monsters walk amongst us. They wear the same skin. They just hide who they are.” Holy....The Body Painter was nothing like I expected it to be. I was on the edge for the entire book trying to figure out how it would turn out. The prologue pulls you in, leaving you shaken and anxious for what lies ahead on the pages. “God, please stop. Stop making me hurt.” Olin is independent, has a warm heart always willing to help others and put their happiness before hers but underneath it all she is extremely lonely. Gil is talented, a loner who has struggled his whole life. He is willing to do everything in his power for the ones he loves but everyone eventually has a breaking point. “I’d had everything taken from me. Everything. And still my love continued to bleed me dry.” I was frustrated at parts, cringed at others and desperate for answers. A deliciously dark web has been weaved and nothing, I mean NOTHING, prepared me for the ending. I need The Living Canvas ASAP!!! If you enjoy suspenseful reads that will leave you guessing what will happen next I definitely recommend this book!! “I stumbled as the hot, lacerating blade punctured my heart and the rest of my hope.” ~ Read on behalf of Two Darlin Dolls and a Book Review Blog
