Description
From Orson Scott Card, the internationally bestselling author of Ender’s Game, comes the first novel in the Pathfinder trilogy, the riveting story of Rigg, a teenager who possesses a special power that allows him to see the paths of people’s pasts.
A powerful secret. A dangerous path.
Rigg is well trained at keeping secrets. Only his father knows the truth about Rigg's strange talent for seeing the paths of people's pasts. But when his father dies, Rigg is stunned to learn just how many secrets Father had kept from him—secrets about Rigg's own past, his identity, and his destiny. And when Rigg discovers that he has the power not only to see the past, but also to change it, his future suddenly becomes anything but certain.
Rigg’s birthright sets him on a path that leaves him caught between two factions, one that wants him crowned and one that wants him dead. He will be forced to question everything he thinks he knows, choose who to trust, and push the limits of his talent…or forfeit control of his destiny.

5By DenalaskaAs usual, Card has written an intelligent & interesting book. The story line and characters are believable. I look forward to the sequel!Incredible
5By Mark the BoldThe best book ever, I loved it all, i want a sequel! The only bad part about reading it was that I had much trouble, and still have, trying to explain it to them.Yet again
5By KnifeMeIsuckMr Card has done what seemed impossible in surpassing himself. Pathfinder had me feeling like I was passing through the Wall every time I had to put it down. Whether you're a long time OSC fan or this is your first time picking up one of his titles, your mind will be blown. Thank you for continuing your career, Mr Card. May your epic novels permeate through time for as long as the human race exists.Card is back, baby!
4By mnelsonjAs a die-hard Card fan I am thrilled that the sf master is back. The last few years have been difficult for fans like me to witness the downfall of the genre's greatest writer. Pathfinder has many of the aspects that have made Card such a prolific writer: strong young characters, great moral quandaries, formidable opponents, etc. the only critique that I have is that because Card and his publisher decided to make this a trilogy, some of the story was not edited out, and parts of the book were added to make the word count up. With this being touted as a young-adult or childrens's book, I guess Card took after JK Rowling and wrote a 600+ page book for all to read. Many of his books are long, but this book seems to be his answer to Harry Potter in many ways. Scott, you do not need to compete with Rowling or Harry, you are OSC! and you have brought the world Ender! no more need be said. The book is a good read, I enjoyed the audible while following along with the book. I liked this so much that I have the audible, ebook, and regular book. So hopefully the royalties pay well. A must read for OSC fans, and a good introduction to sf to the non-initiate.Excellent
4By JonosadI've read most everything I could get my hand on by osc, and I loved pathfinder. Just disappointed by the lack (for now) of a sequel!Pathfinder

5By Adam higbeeThere isn't enough time in a month for me to explain how great this book was. I literally couldn't put it down. Orson Scott Card, you have once again given me something that was glued to my hands and eyeballs for three straight days. I thank you sooooo much and please keep up the great stories. Now I'm off to read the latest 'Ender' novel.Pathfinder
5By CAPT ChopCard is the epitome of sci fi authors, and Pathfinder more than measures up to the standards that he continues to set and then exceed. This is a story that does not just break the rules, it simply rewrites them while weaving a complex tapestry of human motivations and actions. As long as Orson Scott Card continues to write such captivating and engaging stories, I will be among the throngs of fans who will continue to read -- no, devour -- them.A very well thought out book
5By ArretebThis book is complex in the fact that any time travel done by the characters would create a time paradox leaving them stuck to do the same thing over and over. That a side it is a great book. It is very in-depth in the story line and creative. A small knowledge of space time will help in reading this book, it is not required. People that enjoy books like Harry potter or Percy Jackson and the Olympians will enjoy this book. It is a very good book, I recommend it to anyone looking for a good book to read. I cant wait for the sequel. One of the best
5By •AgentOfAnarchy•I have read many OSC books and this one is among the best!! If you even remotely liked Ender's Game or Seventh Son, you HAVE to read this book!! Also, can't wait for the sequel!Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card
4By Teacher/readerCard has a great imagination and grounds much of his work in deeply thoughtful themes surrounding human nature. At the same time, he also knows how to tell an exciting tale. In this case, the tale centers on Rigg, a thirteen year old boy who has spent his youth living off the land under the tutelage of his father who has taught him a bewildering array of subjects including rhetoric and physics which seem to have little use to him in his life as a trapper. His life changes dramatically when his father is killed by a falling tree, and he must flee for his life after being accused of murdering a young boy he was trying to save from plunging over a waterfall. Accompanied by another village boy named Umbo, Rigg embarks on a quest that was the dying wish of his father, to find his sister. As he journeys, he discovers all the teachings of his father were useful after all. When it appears he may be the prince of the deposed royal line, the action really takes off! Although the dual narratives - the story of Rigg and the story of Ram - are a bit confusing at first, patience will allow readers to discern the connection before too long. Be warned, however, the conclusion is totally unsatisfying, evidently in order to assure sales of a forthcoming sequel. Are there any authors who tell a story in a single volume anymore?Pathfinder
5By AlasterblueWarning there may be a few spoilers here. Read at your own peril. As always this was a fantastic story and will definitely stay in my collection for years with the rest of my favorite Orson Scott Card classics. While it is hard at times to keep track of all the science themes, especially those related to time line, I feel that the characters themselves help to explain it enough to make a very enjoyable read. I also give respect to apple and the ability to read this story on the iPad. It has totally changed my reading experience and this was a great first book to read on it. Attired I was skeptical but I am now a true believer.Great!!!
5By Silvergurl35This book truly was good. Yes it was long, but I'm thankful of that because I don't want the book to end! There's a lot of twists. It's a MUST BUY!!!!!!Pay attention!
