Description

Bestselling author Orson Scott Card brings to life a new chapter in the saga of Ender's Earth and The Shadow Series.

Earth and its society have been changed irrevocably in the aftermath of Ender Wiggin's victory over the Formics. The unity forced upon the warring nations by an alien enemy has shattered. Nations are rising again, seeking territory and influence, and most of all, seeking to control the skills and loyalty of the children from the Battle School.

But one person has a better idea. Peter Wiggin, Ender's older, more ruthless, brother, sees that any hope for the future of Earth lies in restoring a sense of unity and purpose. And he has an irresistible call on the loyalty of Earth's young warriors. With Bean at his side, the two will reshape our future.

Shadow Puppets is the continuing story of Bean and Petra, and the rest of Ender's Dragon Army, as they take their places in the new government of Earth.

Card has been my favorite author since 8th grade when I first read Ender's Game. Over the years I have completed the Ender quartet and have finally taken the time to work through the Shadow series. I love the entire "universe" that these novels provide, and that every character stays true to their personality and traits, making them not only believable, but real. This book in particular has moments that my heart would race from sheer excitement. Great read!

Ender's Game? Wonderful. A great book with fantastic characters and a compelling story. Enders Shadow? At least as good. However the follow ups, such as this, The Shadow Puppets, are turgid, drag and seem to go on forever. Too much explanation or explication. Not interested in reading political philosophy. Just tell the story. I'll likely read the next one, Shadow of the Hegemon, to complete the series, but it seems like work.

There are very few thing that could make this book better. You can read it a thousand times over and analyze every sentence and it would still be one of the most enjoyable readings ever. With bean as the main character it gives us in site on what being a true genius is like.
