Description

Ender’s Shadow explores the stars in this all-new novel...

At the end of Shadow of the Giant, Bean flees to the stars with three of his children--the three who share the engineered genes that gave him both hyper-intelligence and a short, cruel physical life. The time dilation granted by the speed of their travel gives Earth’s scientists generations to seek a cure, to no avail. In time, they are forgotten--a fading ansible signal speaking of events lost to Earth’s history. But the Delphikis are about to make a discovery that will let them save themselves, and perhaps all of humanity in days to come.

For there in space before them lies a derelict Formic colony ship. Aboard it, they will find both death and wonders--the life support that is failing on their own ship, room to grow, and labs in which to explore their own genetic anomaly and the mysterious disease that killed the ship’s colony. Shadows in Flight is the fifth novel in Orson Scott Card's Shadow Series.

At the publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management software (DRM) applied.

  • Good, not great.

Seems awfully short. This felt like half a story.
  • Not worth it

I'm a big fan of OSC, but this is far from his best work. It's like he wrote it in a hurry to close the gap between the timelines in the Enders Game and Shadow series. Hopefully the next and final book is an improvement on this.

Good read. It's just way to short. Paying full price for a book that I finished I'm two hours.

  • Incomplete!

I am not disappointed in the book itself - I found a good read, and worth the money, despite its relatively short length. However, this "enhanced edition", is very simply incomplete, as in missing pages the physical book has. I noticed this because I read up to chapter 5 in the bookstore before buying the iBook. Look for yourself, there are a few pages omitted in the "enhanced" version. I didn't do a full check, but I have no doubt there is more missing. For this reason alone, I do feel rather cheated for buying the iBook at full price.

Paying full price for a short story. Tskk tskkk. Definitely not Card's best work.
  • Full price for half the "novel."

I should've read the reviews prior to purchasing this book. The story isn't rich enough to justify the price of a "novel" that's more than half the length of any of the other titles in the Ender/Shadow series. It's a nice short story at best.
  • Kind of puzzling

Fragmented and short. The enhancements are not iPhone friendly. Maybe on an iPad. I don't begrudge him the price of his work but I almost felt I was reading an outline of a much longer work. As it was it really did feel like a short story.
  • Over priced and anticlimactic

The book is way to short for the price of admission. I won't spoil the ending but I expected better. Card is my favorite writer, but this one could have been so much better! Let bean go out with a hurrah!
  • Disappointingly short.

Book ends poorly and more like a lead into another. 'Enhancements' nothing particularly special. I do not recommend this book as its more of a short story and not well done.
  • Highly disappointed

I am highly disappointed overall with this book. Being an Ender's Game fan, I expected depth with greatness I found as I read the book. I read this enhanced version only because I couldn't wait for the original one, but I found out that actually this is shorter than the original which makes no sense since with the pictures the book should be longer than the original. I am hoping that the original version is no different and I have not wasted my money. It is too short and I hope that the original version is same unless I would have to buy it again. I'd rather read the next book for these three kids.

Pretty good story line. Absurdly short for $12. The e-book features do nothing to make up for the length - or much of anything at all. I love the series, but if this is the future pattern, it's time to move on.
  • Great but abridged version

I finished reading this book. It was so damned short. Then I wondered why. And I wikied it like I would anything else to read the plot to understand it better because it felt difficult to understand. I could have done it before but I can't ever skip the plot summary so I waited till I finished the book. Anyways turns out this is an abridged version. Hence, the original version being on preorder. I was very disappointed. I was going to go out and buy the book anyways but now I really will have to and reread it but at least it will be the full version. If u look at both versions, the non enhanced has a approximately 100 more pages to it. Just letting u guys know

The book was really more like a short story, but it was priced as a book. I was disappointed, just because it was too short.
  • Big dissapointment

Not even close to the rest of the series. The shallowness of ALL the characters is appalling. Bean is presented as some dimwitt and the three children are simply a bad copy of ender, petra and the hegemon. There is barely any depth to the story.

Good story, but paying full price for a short story when I expected a book was disappointing, at best. If I was in the book store I would never have bought it Enhanced pictures do not do it for me either. My imagination is better.
  • Far too short

This was awful expensive for what is essentially a short story completing the story of Bean.
  • Great story

My only frustration is in having to wait tell the next book comes out.
