Description

Liar is the second book in The Academy Scarab Beetle Series.

Worse than a thief, is a liar.

Kayli Winchester can finally let go of her thieving past and for once walk on the right side of the law. She's had enough of the hustle and is determined to become the good girl.

But her brother, Wil, is still missing. On the hunt for him, she discovers something worse than a missing sibling: Marc, Raven, Axel, Corey and Brandon. These aren't just scoundrels with hearts of gold. They're flat out criminals. But they're criminals who need her.

In a ruse to draw them away from her brother and learn more about this so-called Academy, Kayli joins them on a mission to Florida in search of a missing little girl. Kayli will do anything to make sure her brother is safe. She'll find their leader. She'll discover their intentions. She'll infiltrate their ranks. And if they try to threaten her brother or herself, she'll burn them all.

But when these five hot Academy teammates all contend for her heart, her resistance starts to crumble.

Maybe she wasn't meant to be the good girl, anyway.

  • Not like the Ghost series

This series is tacky and the heroine is annoying. She is always getting into trouble. The Ghost Bird series is way better. Also, the next book is trying to make you believe she can date all of them, including two gay guys and it's all going to be fine. I call bs on this.
  • Good book, but...

I honestly did really enjoy this book, it was entertaining and just a fun read. However, I didn't like how easily Kaylie just went from one of the guys to the next during the book. I wish the author would have just settled on one or maybe at most two main love interests. But, other than that, the book was great, I found it to be kind of a quick read, and most of it, despite the seriousness of the situations was light hearted and easy to enjoy.

Fun to read. A good mix of adventure, humor and something like romance(s). I like the complexity of the characters and the relationships between them. The plot is a little haphazard at times and far from believable, but a fun, light read. After reading the first two, I realized that the earlier series was 7 books long. For that reason, I've not read the other series and I'm not sure this series is going to captivate me for that long, so I hope it wraps up in book 3.

While the Ghost Bird Series with Sang and the gang are my all time favorites this series is quickly becoming my favorite to. It's more mature witch makes it better in some ways. Liar continues with Kayli and the boys trying to figure out why Kayli's brother Wil ran away. Meanwhile Kayli has doubts about wether or not she can trust the boys, but still finds herself falling for them adn must face the struggle of liking more than one boy. Liar is full of action, adventure, and plenty of romance that will make you swoon. Can't wait for the next one to come out in December and for House of Korba to come out in October. Keep up the good work C.L. Stone.

I like the focus of Ghostbird books but the Scarab Beetle books seem to lack the same heart.

How can you not love this book it draws you in from the very beginning. The romance deepens the mysteries continue. But all we really want to know at the end is what's going on with Corey. Another great book and now we await the next book!
