Description

Westin St. James was the one and only person I trusted in this world.

Then he left me.

And not just left. I’m talking vanished off of the face of the Earth kind of left.

But four years later, he walks into the front door of my evil father’s house. Like Nothing. Ever. Happened.

Even worse, my father informs me he’s my new bodyguard.

But I’m no longer the naive girl he loved and dumped without a word of explanation.

I’m resourceful and independent. Plus, I’ve got a mean right hook. Which I introduce him too as soon as he reintroduces himself with an infuriating smirk.

And things get even crazier after that.

Rook is a love and action packed stand-alone romance with roller coaster twists, jaw-dropping turns, and a heart-bursting HEA. Perfect for people who miss ALIAS and readers who love to boo and hiss at disappearing exes who show back up at your front door.

  • This book has humor, danger, banter, sexual tension and chemistry

I adore Nana Malone’s romantic suspense stories about biracial couples! She writes feisty heroines and swoony heroes with a lot of danger, humor, sexual tension, banter chemistry, and happy endings. In this case, Rook, has a mission that requires him to return to his difficult past and the girl he left behind in a messy, complicated way. Now he is back and she hates him for abandoning her. Things just keep getting messier for Rook as he tries to keep focused on his mission, despite competing priorities. You have to read to find out whether Rook meets his goals, Nissa meets hers, and the Rogues meet theirs. I highly recommend the Gentlemen Rogues series and this book as well worth it. I am voluntarily submitting this review after reading an advanced complementary copy.

Westin St James leaves his best friend Nissa Montgomery one very important morning and she welcomes him back into her life years later with several strikes in “The Rook” by Nana Malone!! Junior Agent Westin aka Rook goes undercover to somewhere he never wanted to see again. However, Rogues is tracking a most wanted man through another most wanted man, his godfather. Nissa wishes to track her sister since her father found her in a home for orphans and separated them. She hates her father for keeping her from visiting her sister and hates him even more when he brings Westin back as her bodyguard. Although Nissa did not have nice words for Westin’s return, their chemistry is undeniable. Their knowledge of each other through childhood memories helps create a push and pull tension between the two keeping us wondering when are they going to trust each other enough. We can feel what the main characters feel, the need to constantly watch our back and be hyper aware. There are plot twists and secrets to uncover in the story making this book a fast read, especially the secret Westin is keeping from Nissa. Nissa’s father is the worst making the story so good! What he did to get Westin then Nissa under one of his roofs is wild! He is insane for his selfish actions requiring Nissa to have a six foot three shadow. If you enjoy reading action packed books about bodyguards, ex-best friends to lovers, determined siblings, double villains, forced proximity, and second chance romances to name a few, then I highly recommend this book! Thank you to Valentine PR and Nana Malone for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I loved this book. It was full of twist and turns. What do you do when your ex shows up after leaving 4 years ago without goodbye? He return and is now her bodyguard and no explanation from him of where he’s been and why he left. The chemistry is still there but they try to ignore it until they can’t anymore. Rook and Nissa work together to take down her dad but they are both keeping secrets. Lots of surprises and this was one of those books that you can’t put down.

Another fantastic read from Nana Malone. Rook and the Rogues need to bring down Westin’s uncle. He let him live with his housekeeper after his parents died but wanted him to kill Nissa’s sister. He was able to get away but had to leave Nissa behind. He is back now to protect her but she was devastated when he left. Will they get a second chance and bring her father to justice?

4.8 stars This is the fourth book in the Gentleman Rogues series; and it is a jam packed, second chance romance that brings the past into the present as Westin returns to where he grew up and the one woman who captured his heart. Westin has known Nissa since they were children as her father is his godfather but one day he just up and disappeared. Fast forward a few years and Westin is back to ensure that nothing and no one can hurt Nissa while he is on assignment... and watching these two is a whirlwind. They have unresolved feelings towards each other and having to be in proximity is not helping, or is it? Nana Malone’s signature action filled storyline is evident and there is the inclusion of some of the other London Lords making brief appearances. Overall, this is one engaging, well-paced storyline. I cannot wait to read the next installment.

It was another thrilling edition to this fantastic series. There was all the gooey yummy stuff that made for an exciting story. There was mystery, revenge, suspense, ethically questionable characters and oh that surprise at the end was brilliant. Great job Nana. Until next time y’all happy reading.
  • Suspense, Intrigue and Excitement around every turn!

The Rook has excitement at every turn, deceit and intrigue seem to be the norm and a second chance at love wins again! Nissa has been forced to live a life that makes her feel trapped, manipulated and lonely and this is all at the hands of her father until Weston shows back up in her life. But, can she trust him? He has left her before. Weston never thought he would be back working for Julian Montgomery, but he will do anything to keep Nissa safe including pretending to be her bodyguard and throwing himself directly into danger. I thoroughly enjoyed this storyline and loved these two characters together. This book is a fantastic addition to The Gentleman Rogues series and I am excited to see what is in store for us in The Spy, coming next.
